once the build problems are sorted they make amazingly practical bikes

my friend is considering going 650b on her CdF, mainly because it's a little bike and 32c+ tyres look ridiculous and increase the standover height too much...

I was going to help her with it, but what are the things to look out for?

what could they do? suppose BLB are allowed to charge exorbitant shipping fees...

especially if they can put a BLB logo on a £3 generic taiwanese stem and it now costs £30.

yup mines a steel. what kind of places do that? I contacted a powder coating place in Cambs but they asked for 80 quid.

I just botched a paint job with that spray.bike stuff. I want to strip it off and go full 90s garish fluoro MTB with it.

Velocity availability is annoying. I've been looking for A23 in 650b and the only way to get them is through BLB and they charge a 55 quid special ordering fee...

Velocity a23 -- but cant seem to find 650b to figure out what the pricing is. Only available from the US. Bleh.

ultregra is too fancy....basically want to replace old piece of crap side pulls on an old Raleigh steel frame with some brakes and levers for stopping power.

Such a good touring build. Out of curiosity what wheels are you running there. Specifically, what hub/spoke/rim combo?

I currently have some disc hope xc hubs that I might try to lace to a vapour (silver) 650b rim, and trying to figure out what spokes I may want to use. Or whether this combo of hubs/rims is crazy. I want to stick to something classic looking but future-proof for touring purposes.

I'm both sad and glad none of these are in my size.
