I'm happy to go single speed on it and replace the wheels for some cheap ally option from my LBS. New tyres and inners.
Where am I best to get a new BB and chain set from for the bike?
Going to wire wool the steel down and replace the bar tape.
The question is if I should bother stripping and painting the bike, I can do it at work when time is free, it's just getting the replacement stickers for it.
A work colleague gave me this also and said I can do as I please with it.
So I have stripped it so far, also not sure what to do, been told it started off as a B Twin bike. I have a few bits and pieces laying around just not sure what route to take.
Think I may just sort both out, move them on and sort my self out a decent single speed commuter.

My friend gave me this bike for pretty much pennies as it was sitting around.
Serial number is 1677178 - so looking on Bike Boom I am lead to believe it could be a 1971? I am thinking Peugeot PA10E
I'm not 100% sure what route I would like to take with the bike, I am considering going single speed as I already have an ally road bike with gears and fancy something that rides different.
Any advice on what route to take with this bike would be helpful, I know it should be about what I want, but I don't want to open a can of worms and waste too much. I want the bike ride able and enjoyable.
I have removed the wheels / saddle & seat post / brake and gear cables. Gave the bike a hose and wipe down also.
I have started wire wool'in some of the rusty metal to see what I can salvage.

Hey,
Somehow got a bug to build a bike, not rode a bike in years and I don't have a tonne of cash to throw at one by any means and in the great scheme of things my knowledge is zero.
I have seen some killer bikes on here and whenever I'm driving, I find myself looking at everyones bikes when I'm at traffic lights ha.
Anyway have a couple friends at work who have worked at bike shops and one at Decathlon who are giving me a hand as I have no idea but I'm here to learn.
I'm sure there are going to be parts that people could advise differently for me, I'm all ears.
Anyway here is the 21" frame that comes with a set of steel forks that I will be replacing for some ally flat blades at some point..
Set of ex demo Tiagra shifters.. 10 speed / Double
Tiagra Derailers..
FSA Stem (got this for free)
Quick releases (nothing amazing)
Soft grips..
Have some B-Twin bar ends & a Selles Bassano saddle from Decathlon also.
I feel like I have said Decathlon way too often already.
Got my flat handlebar / seatpost & mudguard from Brick Lane Bikes.
My Black 700C AlexRims wheel set running Shimano Hubs to hold disc brakes. Removed all the sticker residue now too.
Gatorskins were delivered..
My frame is now painted and here is the only photo I have. Will pick this up on Saturday hopefully and start putting this together.
The colour is Fiat / Abarth grey and the picture doesn't do much justice but it's the only one my mate has seen.
I have some brake lined up and I need to go pick up a seat clamp and some inner tubes.
Few bits left to buy and I can't wait to get out on the road.
Sorry for the essay but put off putting this bike build on here for ages.

Nice to see some car lovers on here too.
I'm an e36 man at heart myself.
Not mine by the way, just my photo. My E36's never came close!
I drive a b5 passat estate PD115 and just been doing a tonne of maintenance stuff. Had it around 2-3 months now.
Done timing belt etc recently and just picked up clutch / dual mass etc etc..
Also just picked up some Audi S-Line alloys which are being sent off for paint.
Most exciting thing I have done so far is an EGR delete and PD130 inlet upgrade.
