I haven't thought much about the process of American elections, but it strikes me that you will get so many opponents wanting to throw their hat into the ring (I mean, even that dweeb Zuckerberg...), each of them necessarily dissing each other, that you'll just end up with a mess. If Trump were to stand (mostly) unchallenged for the Republicans then he would have a strong advantage by concentrating the votes. And, bingo, another term.

Yeah, I agree. I did think that a defensive ploy from Trump's gang could be to create a load of similar spoofs by way of distraction/dilution. Much like the trick Boris Johnson deploys with his use of elaborate language.

Yes, it is, of course, a spoof. However, it seems like a lot of people in the Twittersphere fell for it. It is worryingly believable.

I got that snippet (above) from the Daily Mail. As an aside I am genuinely astonished that the comments below the article are on balance predominantly supportive of Trump. It speaks volumes about either 'filter bubbles' or the level of activity of organised trolling/influencing.
