Firstly I would use fiber grip, and would cut straight to where you feel you may need plus little extra, but you really want to check the sizes a seat post shouldn't be too much of a struggle when the clamp bolt is undone,

I had a similar problem with a KMC B1 and I changed it to a KMC Z510-HX and it solved the problem, (my rear sprocket was also old so its not absolutely silent but I can now hear the traffic) I only use the B1's on sturmey Archer hubs where theres never any noise issue on this set up.
Ps the noise was always worst after cleaning and relubing

Hi and glad to hear your alright, in my opinion you shouldn't have much contact with the other motorist, if you were treated at the scene you don't need to worry about the driver suggesting you wanted to leave,( its also common to do so when in shock), as others have suggested its time speak to a solicitor and try to get on paper from the bike shop who checked your bike, what the resulting damage is, good luck.
Ps. you should pursue this with the intention of a new bike or of the value of your bike don't listen to the driver saying they have incurred costs because his insurance will cover his damage and yours, if as you said they were turning and you were travelling straight on they will be deemed responsible reguardless of the lights changing, I can't see his insurance company fighting this its cheaper for them to just pay you, you should give the witnesses details to your solicitor or write to them yourself and give their response to the solicitor,

Hey Clockwise, Apologies if I misunderstood your ealier post I was reacting to the idea that all ambulance drivers been the same inconsiderate drivers out there just because someone had an issue with one or perhaps two, the point I was trying to make is that we are all different and should be treated that way, we all know that cycling and driving in london is bad enough without the prejudices,..... yes is your answer not4sale but not emergency. cheers all.

In response to Clockwise and andyp's comments,,,,,Hey come on guys, as a PTS driver and cyclist I spend about 25% of my driving day stopping lorries turning stupidly into cyclist paths, receiving abuse from their drivers wearing the sticker "if you can't see my mirror's I'll fucking turn anyway"...so lay off with your euphemism crap. Obviously I mean this in the nicest possible way and as my mum would say "be cool without being a fool".......Have fun out there
