I won't bother too much with adding anything to the hole if you have it yeah use it, staking the tree is my only concern and a little bit of movement helps the tree in the long run, putting too much goodness in the hole doesn't encourage the roots to spread out, I'm sure others will differ in this approach but it's never failed me yet and this year I plant my second tree ,

Think you should keep it as a reminder of how you beat it kind of spider story , remember to grease the new one ..

Yes ML the cables do run under the BB and with me not been an expert this date could very well be wrong, Although Carlton were taking over by Raleigh I think in 67 the frame number seems to indicate a 7 digit Raleigh number (WA1003437) which I believe 100's were 1970, please if you can shed any more light on this number I would very much appreciate it, under the BB there are four cable stops similar to a chainstay so very short lengths of outer gear cable housing needed I'll try upload a pic of this, cheers

Some people would say you have the best of both worlds with that frame, its got classic looks and measurements for modern parts without too much hassle, apart from the BB which I suspect is Italian threaded (still not a problem) the build shouldn't throw up too many surprises, really really like this and looking forward to seeing the end result, good luck

Don't think there are any Arabesque Pedals as such, PD-6207 or PD-6400 would be your closest match, I'll double check Mike as I may have some 6207's if I do I'll put in with the other stuff, cheers

As already suggested above but also if its a square tapered chainset you can take the drive crank off and move one notch on the BB repeat till you get the best result then adjust the non drive crank if its not 180 degrees if the problem isn't cured set the chain tension on the tight spot,

I have just finished a 1970 Carlton Clubman bike fitted with shimano golden arrow groupset,(including wheels) new BB new tyres tubes bartape, superlight frame 56" it will be selling for around £430 but will go to LFGSS members for £380, sorry can't upload photos at present based in Haggerston,
