@Soul @Regal been looking at the BB54 and 39 pelagos. 3850 for the pelagos, regardless of if it is good value for money, is more than I was wanting to spend on my 1 nice watch now I’ve given my sister my 21st present.

Is it stupid to try get one second hand (for example one on eBay has an offer from the seller for around 3100 and was covered by eBay authenticity guarantee)? If I can buy from the right seller, I’d be keen to save 20% I think

colleague had the nicest watch on today which his dad left to him. Watch is about 25 years old

I have had 4 +years of storing mine screwed up. Reckon it is fixable if I let it flesh out? I froze this weekend - had to sleep in all my clothes and it was a 3 season bag

Managed to get a berghaus Grampian 3 for £30 from go outdoors about a year ago in a freak sale. It’s sick, and great if away with one other person as can split the weight and enough space.

Not strictly tent related but should you store sleeping bags not screwed up in their bag? Does it mess with down? Got into discussing it in the lakes this weekend. My mates bag was also wet in the morning from condensation or something but mine wasn’t.

Popped into tudor this morning. Tried on the pelagos 39, BB54 and BB58. They're all great and I'd be ecstatic with any of them.
The faux rivets on the BB54/BB58 let it down but you wouldn't really see these. It is stunning. Pelagos 39 is great, but the hands and markers on it don't look as good imo

Extremely first world topic. I got a really nice 30.5 mm speedking 6430 for my 21st which my dad got for his 21st and could never wear due to size. Posted about it a few years back. Box and papers from the 70s too. I wear it maybe 4x a year max and going to give it to my sister who it looks much better on. Kind of gutted as I now won't have a nice watch and can't afford what I'd like which is a 36mm explorer.. but I know she will get more use out of it.

The BB54 may replace it.

Got the pair for a tenner! So I don’t want to remove the veneer? Just lightly sand where I can see it is veneer and then where it’s just wood can afford to be a bit less careful

There are a plethora of videos out there on restoring furniture. I’ve looked into it quite a bit and going to restore the damaged left bedside table so it matches the right one.

I don’t think I need to steam it, just a light sand and then either beeswax or danish oil. If I did steam it, do you steam then sand or sand then steam?
