thanks! i might well take you up on that. I've emailed Winston just to see how much it would cost as I couldn't see a price for this specific issue on his website (thanks @M_V).
I've been following your frame gluing thread in wonderment and it would be really great if getting this sorted could also contribute to your process and progress. how would you feel about adding a rear disc tab as well?

spotted this morning that the seatstay has separated from the seattube / seat cluster - I thought it might have been limited to a problem with the paint and whilst it feels fine to ride it's possible to push the seatstay away from the cluster by hand (yikes!). tubing is Reynolds 501.

any recommendations for getting this repaired / how much is it likely to set me back? my preference would be going somewhere in London but I'd be happy to travel beyond.
although the bike originally cost me £60 it's pretty important to me, one i'd never sell. I think i'd be ok with the paint being damaged in the process and clearcoating over the top once it's done - tells a story and all that.

can't offer any experience relating to pedalcover but i've been on bikmo for a couple of years and found it pretty decent. it also covers stuff for any touring trips. they were very good when a bike was nicked a couple of years ago.
if you decide to go with them drop me a note and i can send you a referral thingy that will earn us some vouchers.

Got a landlord inspection today so I’ve stayed home this morning. I went out to the garden to do a check.
A fox has destroyed all the tomatoes we were growing, potatoes, plants, everything. The flower beds are dug up and there’s holes and mess everywhere.
It has dug up our hamster that died two weeks ago.
I think to myself this won’t look good for the inspection. I put on some gloves and grab a broom and start sweeping up.
Something smells. Really, really bad. I wonder if the fox has pissed everywhere too.
As I sweep, the smell gets stronger and stronger. I begin to gag. I wonder if I’ve accidentally broomed a turd?
No.
The fucking fox has shat all over the broom handle and as I’ve been sweeping have been spreading the shit all over it.

such incredibly awful news about ben raemers.
View this post on Instagrami just found out my friend ben passed away this weekend. there are no words to describe the sorrow of losing someone so close. he wasn't a teammate, he wasn't just a friend… he was family. i love you and will always miss you ben. – louie #benraemersrip

i've only read a translated version of the article but it looks like what moia is doing is similar to the citymapper smartbus service?
it seems they licenses for 500 drivers in london (fairly old article though)
CSB: I got a 'smartbus' home from hospital in hackney recently and it was quite handy for getting me home when buses / trains meant doing a couple of changes and/or lots of walking (that I couldn't manage). It felt like a strange combination of an uber pool and getting an actual bus - except there were laminated cards on each seat telling you not to talk to anyone else.

I once queried a no further action response to a close pass, in their follow up they mentioned that when viewing my rear view footage the driver's number plate could be seen.
I asked them what they meant by this. They said if the number plate is visible then they are not too close....
In my experience - responses, the reasoning behind decisions, and 'success' in terms of a NIP vary wildly depending on which bit of London you were in when the incident occurred.
As @Oliver Schick says, it's worthwhile reporting so that evidence is available further down the line if necessary and as @dancing james says better technology can mitigate some of the issues as far as subjectivity is concerned.
