Is there such a thing as a 26" bmx ? i thought for racing you had the 20" and 24" cruiser classes, something i looked into several years ago as i hate the little wheelers because i can't ride them :)
For a playbike the proper 4X race bikes/frames are worth looking into. The only people i knew who did bmx, raced and had the proper bike, everyone else used a dirt jumper with a lighter build on parts or a 4X bike.

Cooking you see, had to add red wine to the beef stew, drank the rest so it didn't go off, you know red wine dosen't keep well :)
Never actually tried Lamot, but remembered the adverts.I reckon with some old inner tube i can make a pocket under neath the rack to tuck a tin in out of the way and not be visable.
The plan is to make some sort of holster to drop a D-lock into on the side of the rack, seen a few racks with design to carry a D-lock and lock-chain carriers mounted between the seat tube and upper seat stays. -

Off on a tangent time, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efsXsyXtS78
Lager of Lamot, after watching that i get the urge to dig out Iron Maidens Power Slave :-)Back on topic as i can post piccys again, took some of the stash tins for scale.
Dug around and found some small bookshelf "L" brackets so i have fitted my rear rack, will see if i can somehow attach a tin so it's hidden/semi hidden within the rack, only want to leave a tube and levers, no other tools in case they are used to nick things off the bike. -
A day out with Charlie, which not the whole cause but was a factor in a trip to hospital.
The Niner SIR9 in foreground and a geared Salsa with Charlie which was crashed soon after.
I got the Monkey as the Niner was very nice (853 Reynolds) but a bit delicate, the Karate Monkey is more of bare knuckle fighter and can take some hits.........Niner was nice though. -

I can help with feeling better over costs.
Money from sold car + savings in VED tax (unless you had an exempt car) + savings in car insurance + savings in not having RAC/AA cover + annual fuel cost + annual MOT and service cost = maybe your bike has cost less than car costs (no excuse to spend more)

I could only see one piccy of the downtube, that looked pretty bad.
Sensible choice and not seeing the rest of the damage is bin it, on-one have some cheap alu road frames on sale so a new frame could be had cheaply. On the other hand, leaving the UK shortly anyway....... but without seeing the whole damage, i might go for sensible commuting only, no kerb hopping or sprinting, forget long training rides, just pootle to work and back again and keep an eye open for cracks, thats assuming the frame isn't bent and tracks straight.
Would be safer to get a budget frame replacement.

Can't remember the shop name, but at the top on the left of the big stairs leading down into the stables market area, a vintage clothes shop that just happened to have several old bikes lining it's entry way.
First time i have been there, had a chinese for breakfast which is a new experince for me :-)Glenmorangie gift tin, about twice as deep as a baccy tin and with a folding/attached lid, normally i just tape a tube to the frame somewhere but have also wedged and taped a box above the rear stays plate (the flat plate for rack and brake)
Choice is mostly down to whats on special in supermarkets, rocking a 1ltr Whyte&MacKay right now because it was the same price as a 70cl bottle, "if" work picks up again then some single malts from Jura, Scarpa etc etc will fill the cupboard, quite partial to JD Power from Ireland but that has got pricey and hard to get so slum it with Jamesons from time to time, Lockes from Ireland are nice as well, did a distillery tour years ago, Jameson and Guinness in Dublin then out to the midlands for Lockes..... happy days, came back with a lorry cab full of bottles stuffed under the seat, got held by special branch at the docks who didn't care about my whisky collection but did look for things that go bang. -
Your stem bolt appears to be cracked at the 11 o'clock position........
Been thinking along same lines as have a larger tin that held 2x5cl whiskeys, but decided it might be a thief magnet, i was only going to leave a tube and lever in mine and maybe add some bottle bosses to bolt it too, or try and intergrate it with a rear rack and spray it black so it dosen't shout to smackhead thieving types that it might still contain booze.
Did look at an old PUCH touring bike in a shop at camden lock last weekend that had 2 alloy containers inside the rear rack, i did wonder if this was only a workable idea outside of London. -

Thats enlightened me loads.
From years of mountain bikes with big tyres and suspension you get used to pedalling induced bob from tyres and suspension bob, and linkage flex and bushing slop/bearing play.
As mdcc_tester has pointed out to me the moment is small and unlike in say a high revving motorbike engine an imbalance is unlikely to result in a massive parts failure.
From never really paying much attention to track or time trial bike set up's ( as i have never done either) i assume if the wobble was an issue it would have been looked into at a pro level and if it was of issue or a possible performance gain then the pro's would have started balancing things to reduce it, which would soon get noticed and everyone would be doing it.:) loving the technical side of the forum

Drive side crank arm is heavier than non drive side, so would adding car wheel weights to non drive side balance this out ?
More of a mountain biker so not used to high RPM spinning, but i do get what you mean when playing on my beater SS, a smooth cadence/spin cycle with legs and no dramas, when going faster or mashing on the pedals then i can feel a wobble when seated.
I always put it down to technique and not spinning smoothly. Curious on others take on the question.
Always fancied a go on a killswitch but never seen one or heard of anyone that bought one, or had actually seen one other than online in or in a magazine.
The old Kona Cowans and Cove Hooker are worth checking out, DMR bolt too. :)
