Slaves to marketing hype Howard, thats what they are....... you need a triple clamp front and at least 8" rear travel to ride down a mountain...... thats what sells bikes, and i bet most of them drag the brakes making the braking bumps even worse.
Fuck it, fuelled by red wine and found my old memory stick, some hardtail vibes for Howard the mountain slayer :)
Again at the fort, i am not allowed out of the UK so haven't ripped the Alps a new one. -

will find a photo later although it may not do justice to the name "Big Cat"
Ear drops involved me waking up, cat sleeping by my feet and Mrs853 executing a surprise attack on sleeping cat as the ear to be treated was upwards.
Some head flapping and dirty looks and it was all over, cat is now aware, surprise attacks may be harder, only 2 weeks of twice daily treatment to go. -

The noise he made in the vets......then the surgery door opens and they got a third person in.......
Might dose a towel in feliway as well.
Had to the ear drops on the other cat (Big Cat) he wasn't so bad but cats can really move there ears about, he kept folding it over so we couldn't get the dropper in :)
Big Cat ran off to live on the farm a mile away over the fields, he lived on free range rabbits and pigeons and pheasants, the farmers wife told me she saw him dragging a Hare across the yard, the rodents where mere snacks.
We didn't see him for months, then the farm called us as they hadn't seen him for a while, we think we saw him basking in the sun at another farm about 10 miles away, we assumed he ate everything and just moved with the food.
Lovely cat unless you where you on his menu :) -

Trip to the vet for ours was exciting.
He's been flapping his head as if trying to shake something out of the ear.
Took 3 of them to try and check it out, he didn't like it but no vets bled today. After some whiskers and a nap he's off on nocturnal jolly........... i expect the breakfast alarm call around dawn, when you get a cat massage then a claw up your nose to make sure you are awake because it's whiskers time.
Then while he's eating...... we get to nuke a room with feliway, bundle him in it, let the feliway work, then attempt to apply ear dops without bleeding or losing a finger.
Yeah, mornings going to be fun. -

Easy soloution.
Genesis are a madison home brand they are also the UK importer for shimano.....On the back of the crank arm should be a makers stamp, doubt it's shimano (could be wrong though)
Price up for a helicoil repair, plus postage and time on what is most likely a budget crank set, offset that over a brand new crank arm delivered. If it was a high end crank then maybe helicoil it. Loads of options at varying costs :)

Try a wanted ad.
Or try http://www.sjscycles.co.uk as they do single crank arms, shimano one at £25 square taper as long as it's the same BCD chainring as yours.

The new one he had at the 24hr is bigger wheeled, wider tracked (i think, but not by much) has proper brakes, not a single Magura HS33 and a bit of suspension action........unlike the old rigid raider.
Jonsey has trouble walking and can no longer ride a normal bicycle so he bought and modified an old rigid recumbrant/trike and the went on to design his own.The old trike on the start gate at Woodland riders Chip shop tracks in Devon (down the road from Gawton for DH types)

Warriors of Genghis Khan* would ride hardtails.
Mine and another random mountain slayer from Norco that didn't race just went for jollys.
*name that bad band and get a videro link to work in the UK :)
