Zoodax on the 3rd October...
On the 3rd October, Justin McKie, chair of the Regent’s Park Cyclists
group, will be cycling around the Outer Circle of Regent’s Park 113
times to complete 500km. He will be raising money for The Regent's
Park Cherry Tree Fund.http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/RegentsParkCyclists
Why?
Cyclists numbers have grown in London and in Regent's Park
particularly and we want to say thanks. With pollution levels killing thousands each year we need more trees
(and less cars). With cyclists getting killed in London, Regent's Park
is our safe haven to exercise in London. There are no others. -
The Royal Parks tweeted this last night:-

I know it might not mean much in the grander scheme but I'd encourage those on twitter to let them know what you think.

I don't mean to derail this thread but I want to make sure everyone who rides at Regent's Park takes a look at (and hopefully signs) this petition:-

More info in this thread and I've attached some background info to this post.
Thanks.

Posting for a non-cyclist friend that works for ChildHope...
We (ChildHope) are doing a fundraising cycling event at the Herne Hill Veldrome, but the catch is that it's only for the property sector! We are quite short on teams (we have 7 teams of 4 people and need at least 10!) and are branching out to cycling clubs/shops to see if there are any avid cyclists who happen to be part of the property sector that might like to take part!
I was wondering if you might be able to ask around at your cycling group and send this link around if you have an email group going, just on the off chance any of them might be property-people or know other cyclists who are!

Every Friday morning at 6.00am for the foreseeable future, there will be social laps of Regent's Park for 1 hour.
The original aim of this ride is for different clubs to have a less formal chat about the CS11 plans (see this thread: http://forum.islington.cc/conversations/269905/) but it's a good excuse just to meet and ride with others. So far Muswell Hill Peloton, CC London, Phoenix, Regent's Park Rouleurs and a few more have shown up.
Meet at the zoo and divide into groups with a max size of 12, riding in 2 x 2 formation.
Every few minutes the rider on the right front comes through and moves left to keep the chat fresh. We also now have a Strava group. Please spread word:-

All are welcome.

This should be of importance to anyone that rides in Regents Park...
With the upcoming introduction of the cycling super-highway (CS11)
through Regent's Park, various groups and organizations have taken the
opportunity to think about how Regent's Park is used.Various CS11 proposals are being looked at in Regent's Park. Closing
some or all of the gates to motor traffic during peak times is being
considered, which likely make cycling in the park a much safer
proposition.Additionally however, proposals for multiple speed humps and or a
20mph limit for motorcyclists and cycles could negatively impact the
ability to exercise on a bike around the outer circle. It would impact thousands of road cyclists who use a unique area of
London to cycle and train safely. An action group is being formed from various clubs and cycling bodies
to try to mitigate the risk of this happening. If you would like to be
involved, please join the page on Facebook. -
