Just booked bike on Eurostar via Eurodespatch. Didn't get through via phone so emailed them and got a response almost immediately. They were really helpful and friendly. Have got the last place for a bike that doesn't need to be pack down. I'll be getting a train from Lyon with bike in a bag then changing at Paris so will have to reassemble the bike before putting on the Eurostar. Does mean i get to ride it away from kings cross though.

Lea Valley to Cambridge today following the trusted lfgss route. Lovely weather and nice quiet lanes. Managed to snap my bank card in two but it still worked so i could buy a train ticket at cambridge station. First proper ride since early March. Need get fitter, lose some pounds and ride more as I'm doing Chase the Sun in June. Managed to smash the 100km Strava Gran Fando by 8 metres by doing 15mins of laps in the train station car park. 8/10 would ride again.

Here is the second part of that route from last year. Again, take a closer look as it was a bit trial by error but takes you over the Mendips which were beautiful and then to a campiste near cheddar: https://www.strava.com/routes/6057129 — Arctangent Day 2 via cheddar

Sounds ace. North Wessex Downs are beautiful to ride through. Have a look at the ridgeway from reading to Swindon the onto chippenham. Chalk trails and may take you a bit far south but would be a great start to the tour. Here's a route I've done twice now. Some bridle paths and trails along with lanes and b roads so not the quickest but enjoyable and quiet.

Do share any route you take from Worcester to chepstow as my folks live in Malvern so I'd be keen to see what route you take in case i ever go visit with the bike.

Day off next Friday so planning to do this route, going anticlockwise. Its a combination of The Ridgeway national trail and reverse of a route I did from Reading to Cheddar last summer.
Currently thinking to either set off early Fri am, and do the whole route in one day, or do part by night on Thurs evening after work.

Anyone know what size 700cc would fit my salsa 29er rims? Want to get some tyres for commuting and general usage so any recommendations welcome. Haven't got any calipers so cant measure the outer/inner rim width but the salsa website states they are 30mm wide.

I'm now out - been offered a place on a week long charity ride in France. Probably fit enough of a ride round Epping. Definitely not fit enough for a week long tour but croissants.
