Not on a bike but bike related. Zip pull broke at work and needed a quick fix. Gear cable with a brake cable crimp so both ends fit. I only intended it to be temporary but it’s lasted a year. I’ve now done it on another pair of shorts that the pocket zip broke on.

That's a very round crack considering where the force is. Have you had something mounted on the end of the thru-axle?

If you really want one, most bike shops will have so many because the kits always come with one, so you could try ask your LBS nicely if they have a spare you could have.

Always something like this that comes along and prevents you from finishing something. Plenty of 31.8 clamp mechs and plenty of braze on mechs but not what I need!

I thought those shops looked pretty cool inside, yes. Although I just had a look at some pictures and it was actually that they used metal grid panels over white walls. And they hung stuff off the metal grids. Visually, it looked similar, that's why it reminded me. About the best pic I could find.
