how did you come up with the sizing - custom bike fit on one of those special fit machines (fitmaster, or something?). I'd love to be able to get size right for a self-build based on a bike that fits, but with slightly different geometry. Maybe I should just play around with bikeCAD?

I'd say it probably comes in under 12kg, maybe a bit less, and she thinks of the 37c tyres as sleek and thin, so I guess it just depends what you're used to!

No cheating - those are clearly chopper-style hi-risers, cut off at the top of the curve, with drops welded on the ends.
If you track down the high rise risers, I will donate the drops - and maybe even stick them together for you... if you trust me ;)
I also have a dahon espresso folder that needs a new purpose in life, and it could look similar to that if it had 20" wheels maybe? BB might just be too low though? I'd be happy to pass it on cheaply, and it would be fitting to start with a japanese bike as your base ;)

Some exciting developments and acquisitions for this, but I will wait to update later once I have got to the next stage, rather than drip-feed you with small changes. I got some of those white zaffiros as well - I am sure they will be shite, but they were only 3.99 or something, and I needed to top up my order, so they are worth having to throw on a loaner for a friend, or something else.
@young_gun the ergostem may be rarer, but I have seen them go for as low as £50-60 on the forum, and alters and Ti grammos occasionally go that high or higher. I think I have something special in the pipeline though ;)
