When she squeezed through the two buses at Brixton she looked a little shocked, so I just asked her if she was OK, then we stopped at the lights and she said it was only her second day commuting by bike so I just offered to cycle with her as we were going the same way.
I agree it is a challenge, think today it was easier as she genuinely looked terrified, sometimes I want to help but just don't think it would be wanted.

Brixton Rd, through Oval, Kennignton Park Rd, E&C, then up via Borough, L&B. Only decided to say something to her when she tried to squeeze through two buses at Brixton. One of the things I notice most with 'newer' cyclist is that they all use the hardest gear and never seem to change out of it. She was really struggling to get away from the lights due to her gear choice, suggested that she anticipates the road traffic and lights more, as if she was driving her car and use the range of gears she has. She had picked it up by the time we got to E&C and was moving much quicker both off the lights and between them.
She hadn't quite mastered the shoulder checking, but then again not a lot of people even bother.

Cycled from Brixton to London Bridge with a very nervous lady cyclist. She only started commuting yesterday so thought I'd ride upto LB with her and give her advice. She was very thankful and seem to take my advice on board. Suggested that she find a club or join one of them Breeze rides to gain more confidence.
Felt good 10/10 will help out again.

Nice ride home last night made even better by the irate mum in the massive 4x4 who kept using her horn and gesturing for me to f*uk off out the way as I was in primary as it's a narrow Rd. How she couldn't see the massive f*uking truck in front of us trying to turn a corner is behind me. Pointed this out and get the bird in return, truck driver waved me through and off I pootled very tempted to give her the bird back but thought better of it, what with her kids in the car.
No such fun on this mornings ride in. Apart from some confusion on the new E&C layout.

Bloke sweating his pies off dressed in a long sleeve winter jacket, sun glasses, white tennis socks pulled up to his knee and work shoes, riding a BTwin MTB rolling very slowing through the red lights at the junction of the Brixton Rd and Stockwell Rd, who caused a minor jam by getting stuck between a bus wanting to turn right on to the Brixton Rd and a van which was going straight across from Gresham Rd neither which could move as you could go forward or back as the lights had changed. Didn't take more then a minute before I had the first person undertake me. Turned onto Gipsy Hill shoulder checked to going around a parked car next thing I know a blur in green when steaming passed on the inside, he managed to squeeze between me and the parked car. Journey just got worse from that moment on, more undertaking, more sheep following each other through red lights and junctions and not a lot of shoulder checking before moving over.
Still as like yesterday the Sun was out 5/10 Will moan again.

E&C was a particular joy this morning. To the big chap on the SS Orange and Black NoLogo you are a twat and lucky that cabbie didn't knock you out.
Seems everyone has forgotten about the recent deaths and still continue to filter down the side of buses/trucks/vans indicating left. At least one lad stopped after hearing me saying 'watch out for that van it's turning left' he admitted he was just following everyone else.
Still sun was out 8/10
