@hanford def of interest - but would want to firm up a fork to go with it before committing. Don't suppose you have one lying around that would marry up?

After several weeks away I have come back to a mountain of parcels of bits and pieces to start to put this bike back together.
Wheels are currently getting built up by Arup of this very parish so hope to have them back in hand soon.
Have also sourced an 11 speed 11-40 Shimano XT/XTR set up, some M730 cranks AND some XTR ST-M900 brake levers all for good prices from ebay and negotiated from various fields in Denmark.
Fingers crossed this can all begin to take shape ASAP. Been a long time coming and perfectly timed for the rotten weather to sweep across the country.

Guy from the forum makes bags - I got a small bar bag and it's great quality. Pretty much tell him what you need and he can make it. Really good stuff.

Hi,
Looking for some beater 1" threaded steel forks for a Peugeot Premiere rebuild I have going on. Plan on stripping and repainting but needs to accept a caliper brake - no V brake or canti posts please!
Need 240mm of steerer.
Additionally - an 1" quill stem - 26mm clamp with 60-80mm of reach would be great.
Thanks.

I make history/arts stuff mainly so have been hugely lucky getting a gig working for a video on demand service commissioning their own stuff. Have been working from home but have been pretty back to back with editing archive driven shows and doing zoom interviews with experts.
However, as things start to free up looks like more outdoor and face to face filming will start up again. But with considerably more hoops to jump through setting up shoots than ever before.

Internally they are 22mm - only using tape measure though but this is backed up by an old catalogue I dug up.
The tyres are running at just about exactly the 2.1 as advertised so 53/54mm. They look and feel great.
The clearance I have is an issue though. Probs only 2/3mm each side... have been having a search about - a ghetto crimping of the chain stays at the right spot should create a dimple to give me a couple of mill extra to play with... with the steel frame it SHOULD be okay - I’ll have a think. Watch this space!

Big clean up day today - was looking all good on the surface but on closer inspection things were super dry and crusted on.
Managed to get it down to the cranks but found a pesky non-allen key bolt with no way to get out so headed down to the LBS for a hand. (Bike House in Kentish Town - strongly suggest you avoid this place - crap service) got the bolt removed (after 15 minutes) and then was able to strip down to the frame and clean it all up.
Tried to service the headset which had years of old grease accumulated inside and a slightly knackered caged bearing so got a replacement set on order. Now I have a pile of individual but beautifully clean parts all ready to be reassembled.
New hubs have arrived but still on the hunt for that elusive, highly recommended wheel builder, so will continue this whilst away next week.
Away for a week and can't wait to start putting all the bits back together on it - also must do a deep dive onto the new drive train too.

Nice, and VERY exciting delivery today of a new cable hanger - so now i have all the bits for stage one of the rebuild. Fingers crossed I'll be able to get that done tomorrow.
So that will be bar replacement, new pads and tyre switch.
Hunting around for a decent wheelbuilder to be able to help me switch up the rear hub to allow the 1x drive train switch.
26" rims with 130 spacing, but allowing a 10/11 speed cassette means that off the peg is not really an option. Emailed Spa cycles but think that is going to be quite expensive. But useful to get their input anyway.
So if any one else here has a suggestion - I'm on the hunt for someone local (London) and decent!
Anyway - hopefully more exciting build related posts soon.

Anyone here delved into the magical art of wheelbuilding that fancies a bit of a project? Got some old 26ers that are laced to a 7 speed freewheel but am looking to change that hub to that can accommodate 10/11 speeds.
I reckon i could probably get as far as actually getting the spokes through the holes in the right formation, but beyond that I might need some help for truing and dishing etc etc.
Anyone fancy it? Of course, monies will change hands for the services provided. Drop me a PM.
Cheers.
Finally a day of progress - got my wheels built up and back courtesy of Arup which I was really pleased with. But then the first real challenge to try and sort was the issue of tyre clearance in the chain stays... Now being stubborn and having already bought the tyres - i wanted to keep them. They look great and i think they will ride great too. As you can see here in picture 1 and pictures above. Clearance was minimal.
