Good info on the NC500 uber_gruber. Considering this myself for the end of summer (hopefully post-midge, right?). Would you suggest doing it counter-clockwise then? Been reading Mike Carter's book 'One Man and his Bike', which is a good lighthearted read if anyone's stuck for bike related books, in which he cycles the coast of Britain CCW and never complained of headwinds, at least not in the Scotland part of the book.

FS: 1950s Raleigh Royal Green & Gold Beater/Pub Bike 56cm Complete bike £100 > Now £80
I'm selling my loyal Raleigh Royal as I've now too many bikes and should really get rid of some of them.
It's perfect for a pub bike or something to cycle to the shops. Rides pretty well, it goes and stops and turns round corners. The paint is great, really deep colour, and looks great when you polish it up. Homemade internal routing for rear brake works well and hasn't caused any problems.
I rode it around with a track wheelset and risers and it was solid. Put some steel wheels on it now and some old bars I had lying around so that who ever buys it can just get on and ride away.
List of parts:
50s Raleigh Royal frame & forks 56cm square CTC
Chrome 27" steel wheels (pretty pitted but fine for riding), tyres and 5 speed freewheel (running on only 1 speed)
Tange Allez headset rolling smooth
GB Sprite caliper brakes and Weinmann levers
Rad 70s AVA stem and (sorta bent) alloy bars - I've used them like this for a good 6 years, no worries about them breaking
Alloy seatpost and scatty saddle
Sealed square taper shimano BB & Sturmey Archer chainset.

£100 O.N.O > Now £80
Collection from Peckham Rye/East Dulwich. Dibs followed by PM please -

NOW SOLD
Due to other projects requiring funds I need to sell on some things that aren't being used, this frame being one of them!
The serial number on this Raleigh is stamped at the top of the seat tube and is 665759 P, which means Raleigh built it in 1948. I am not entirely sure what it is, whether a Lenton Clubman or just Clubman I've not been able to work out.
It has had a restoration at some point, where it has been blasted, entirely chromed and then partially painted over in a translucent blue which gives it a real iridescence that seems to glow in the sunlight. There was obviously some surface rust before this was done as some unevenness and speckling can be seen in the chrome, but since the chroming there has been no development of rust.
Cosmetically it is nice, with a few chips and grazes here and there, only light surface rust on insides of chain stays as seen in the pictures. Some old tape and marks where the frame has been protected from cable clips. I can't work out whether the vinyl transfers are under lacquer or not, having not tried in earnest to peel them off, but I don't think they look too bad. The chromed dropouts and fork ends are in excellent condition.
Comes with unbranded clip headset, seat clamp bolt and Tange bottom bracket, which needs a refurb.
ST 56cm (22in) ctt, TT 56cm ctc.
531 Butted tubing
Front spacing 84mm, Rear spacing 124mmAsking SOLD, collection from Peckham Rye / East Dulwich. Can be posted within UK at cost.
Price drop: £99 -> now £75 -> NOW SOLD

Thanks @MCamb, It sure does look classic. It also most definitely rides like a classic British tourer, flexes all over the place, goes straight as an arrow though (thanks to that fork rake).
Yeah it has both, 3 gears in the hub, 3 gears on the freewheel. Which means there are 9 speeds in total. Across the 9 of them they cover pretty much any ratio you could want whilst touring, although it is pretty cumbersome flicking between them all. To go up incrementally you start at the first hub gear and ascend the 3 speed freewheel, then move up to the next hub gear but have to start from the bottom of the block again. I think there's a reason it didn't catch on.

@Thrasher here it is, seems to be as it was built in 1981 (got the receipt with the bike when I bought it). The paint is really quite dull in the sunshine, needs a good polish!
The frame seems to be really well built, it's especially light considering that is has a AW hub on the back (dating from 1972, 9 years older than the bike) combined with a Cyclo 3 speed block. Can only guess the commissioner really knew what they wanted.
I've found next to no information about Ron Thomas, and only a smattering of Pat Rohan information. This thread has the most info: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/184188/

Perhaps of a little interest as to the maker of your frame, I have a Pat Rohan branded frame with the same Thomas stamp at the top of the seat stays.
I read somewhere (can't quite remember where) that the Thomas is for Ron Thomas, who built bespoke frames to order through Pat Rohan's shop on Rayners Lane. So maybe you've got a Pat Rohan, or I imagine Ron Thomas may well have built for other names, I don't actually know though.

Price drop to £45, need to clear some space.
