So I finally got my PC parts.
Played electronics Lego for the better part of the evening. I probably should have bought a different / smaller PSU, as this one has all the cables preattached. Seeing as I only need three (2 to Mainboard, 1 to SSD) that is overkill and a lot of unwanted cables.
Also the position of the cable output overlaps the USB3 bus on the Mainboard. I got the USB cable in but only just and with some force. Don't like it. Will probably buy new psu soonish.
On the brighter side: I got everything nicely arranged with zip-ties, airflow seems not too bad, everything works fine.
The mainboard glows in all the colors all the time (even when the PC is powered down), as it has a preinstalled LED strip that is glowing permanently. Neat. Probably will turn it off if I find the switch.
After faffing about trying to burn a .iso file to an USB stick for... hours, I managed to install Win10 in 15 minutes while sipping my breakfast tee this morning. Neato.
Now to fix the monitor scaling issue, get new drivers for everything... and go!

That sounds nice.
I have my laptop set up dualboot with limited space for the win 7 partition.
I have 40GB of SSD for drive C:\ and 180GB of HDD for D:.
The inability to install everything correctly under D:\ plus bazillions of drivers/.net/redis/whatever have lead to the C:\ Drive being completely full all the time, throwing errors left and right.New build: One disc. Looking forward to Win10 too.

I don't normally drag the brakes.
Also it was left alone for... two days max.
@Howard Maybe. But then I should feel the lever getting spongy or something like that?
-
So, this morning my front disc that was working perfectly saturday morning decided it could just stop braking and start squealing instead.
Had the same problem with the old disc / pads which is why I swapped them three weeks ago.
What could have caused this? contaminated pads? From standing in the cellar?
Although dragging the brake through a downhill section of my commute brought back the power and stopped it squealing. Burned it clean I guess.

That is very sexy. but 400$ for a case?
>>>>>>>>>>>>Also regarding i3:
I have read up on this and what you say is true for older games/engines.
Newer games can use the mutiple cores better and thus the i5 quadcore is an improvement.
Also this machine won't be purely for gaming. So I'll just take the i5 now, while I have money... -
My thinking exactly. The only thing really "upgradeable" in this build is now the Graphics Card. Which I can upgrade at any time in the future. the cas can take a full length one.
Oh, and Memory, but I can just chuck a HDD in there if the SSD becomes full.
Or another SSD. Possibly a M.2 SSD. Who knows. But if I go for a i3, cheaper mainboard, less RAM etc. I just end up buying the better spec stuff in half a year, thus paying twice.

My new PC project went from:
"I'm fed up with my laptop so let's see how cheap I can build a PC that can do things"
over:
"If I spend a little more now, I can make this more futureproof and enjoy it longer"
to:
"Well, when I'm already in the business of throwing money, I may just as well get something nice."
Mini-ITX build, i5-6500, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD, GTX1050i, all in a 18*20*35cm case.
Now, who needs a kidney?

Thanks.
I don't need the mini ITX setup... but I like it. I have compared prices and at least the Mainboard isn't any worse, pricewise. I have found some nice, small and not too expensive options for cases too.
The only "frustrating" thing is I'd really like to build a really tiny PC, but with a graphics card that's not possible...A "Data storage" 1TB HDD is an option for later, I can always upgrade to more memory space when I run out of SSD (I think...).
Alright. I'm just confused why the i3 is about half the price of the i5
@amey ah thanks. Language barrier + lack of caffeine = no understand. ;)

So 650€ gets me...
- i3 6100 3,7Ghz (Do I see that right, that for most games the Corecount doesn't do anything anyway and they just want highest rate?)
- Nvidia GTX 750 TI (cheap, but should do some work. Also can upgrade that later)
- mini ITX Mainboard
- 16GB RAM
- 500GB SSD
- a case.
Nice and small and powerful.
Now is that "better" than the skull canyon, which I would get for similar money?
edit: Wait I can get a GTX 1050 for the same money as a 750. What the hell is up?

Probably. Haven't really looked into that yet. There's some software that came with the MB. I should find it there.
@Sumo the Case description specifically states that modular PSUs won't fit. Though I really don't know why.
A SFX PSU will fit though, maybe I'll just buy one of those.
Thanks both!
