Wild on so many levels… Let’s count the kaleidoscopic approach to bike building:
- Saddle bag (oh yes) meets frame bag
- Frame meets fork
- 80’s cork bar tape meets Dura bling
- Wheels/tan GP5k meets everything else (including that cardigan!)
- *EDIT d/t shifters are cool though (h/t Jose, I’d forgotten about those!)
It is both vintage and modern though…!
- Saddle bag (oh yes) meets frame bag

Thanks (to @timmah! and @Airhead too). Looks like either trying that LP gear upgrade or a VM95E for c £50, or a VM95ML or better if I’m feeling flush… Something to mull on, cheers!

I’ve had a Rega RP1 for getting on 5+ years now and figure it’s probably due a new stylus, so just wondering whether it’s worth replacing like for like or considering an upgrade?
Back in the day I think the RP1 used to come with an Ortofon, would a Red or similar give me more than the stock Rega cartridge? On threads comparing them, I saw that LP Gear in the US do a stylus upgrade for the AT version of the carbon: https://www.lpgear.com/product/LPGCFN3600LE.html - anyone had any experience of that or faced a similar dilemma?

#superstarwatch update
My budget wheels (for the other half) just arrived too. I went for the R475 rim version, which I think is just the 30mm deep version of yours. Fairly narrow at c20mm external, but I knew that before ordering. C1700g for the 28h version, which is about on-spec. Mine appear to be true so far. Look decent, especially once horrible Alexrims decals come off.
Pretty happy with that for £50 posted!
Edit: don’t forget to buy rim tape though..

Just seen this. While inrng is great, Velonews and CyclingTips were far and away the best cycling news sites. Also given Caley & Dave's departure very worried about the future of Nerd Alert, which again is No1 on my podcast list. Seems even a subscription model isn't enough to save quality journalism.

If they were new, then in theory leaving tyres on for a bit with tubes will stretch them and yes they’ll be easier to put on when it comes around to tubeless time. Was suggested on a recent episode of Nerd Alert podcast.
Now I remember it, they recommended inflating to max to speed up the stretching process (lower *pressure would stretch, but over a longer time) -
In fairness, most bad reviews I’d read back in the day said ‘they then fixed it’. Obviously given they’re shutting down, you can assume for £37.50 a wheelset they aren’t going to offer lifetime truing (clearly entirely reasonable). I think I got more than a bargain at c£50. But it’s all moot given their withdrawal from the market.
If you want quality wheels at quality prices, buy hand built from a reputable wheel builder. Otherwise see the ‘which wheelsets’ thread if you can only afford cheap factory built… Though personally I’d just browse the superstar rims selection (only 66% off..) and supply them to a local builder, or pick something relatively easy like 32 hole with 2x or 3x lacing and try it yourself.
