In the same vein given we have enough shit weather to necessitate turbo often, I don't think it's worth the misery of indoor training in good weather. Doing sweet spot on the road with less structure isn't the end of the world. 90minute ride at sweet spot apart from junctions and downhills (if you can't brake to keep in zone) works OK for me.

^ Something is better than nothing. Ideally I'd be doing the same 3x20minutes but I'm really fatigued and it's hot so I'm off to Aston to do 3x threshold laps of the XC instead which should be painful but 'fun'. I think if I climbed on the turbo tonight I would be doomed to failure as well as really pissed off.

Also did Scott Marathon Wantage round on Sunday . Had previously boycotted as thought 300+ riders on the Ridgeway was madness.
Super well organised, great route, avoided most walkers, no horses, very fast or chilled as you wished and really good fun. May well travel to the next round in Somerset. Massive field - 350riders on the 80km course alone.

Fizik Gobi - Kium. There's a difference between chromo, kium and carbon.
Carbon like torture board, chromo ok, kium super plush.
Also try more angles on the Flite. I had a minimalist Selle that hurt until I found a sweet spot, now it's merely uncomfortable but as I should barely be sitting on that bike I don't care.

Whatever food you do use, road test it beforehand - as in eating when you are riding.
A Ginsters may be lovely for lunch but could make you want to throw up 4 hours into racing. Physical exertion and nerves etc can play havoc with stomachs.
Solid foods make me feel really sick when racing. I eat a Torq gel per lap try and drink as much Torq as I can and from 9pm a swig of full fat coke each lap

I live in the flatlands of the Thames Vally so almost all riding would be confined to footpaths and bridleways... plenty of mud but nothing even vaguely resembling anything gnarly without getting in the car. Going for a spin along the Ridgeway also sounds pretty fun.
My neck of the woods...I spend a lot of time in the Ridgeway
Much the same as you in 2010. Bought and rode a Boardman FS for a couple of years. Tried various FS and HT thereafter. Would say on balance a 100mm 29er HT does everything in this area well apart from more than a few hours in the Ridgeway in Summer.
I really like my Whyte 29er - try Rides on Air in Wallingford for a demo.

Other country matters
Swarms of lycra clad city dweller cyclists clogging our country lanes without even paying road tax. I stopped a few last weekend by driving at them when they didn't give way that gave them a taste of their own medicine the lower class cunts that they are dropping litter everywhere and generally getting in the way. #aboutthelevelofthisthread

Hunting will gradually die as the urban sprawl extends, traffic increases and land ownership changes. The amalgamation of many hunts is less to do with any faux ban than a way to combat those issues (as well as rising costs)
The idea that a bunch of common latte swilling fixie riding web designers have a clue about the countryside is as valid as Etonians trying to run an industrial nation, wait a minute....

I e mailed Joe Friel about TCL not taking account of intensity. His response was that it's an algorithm that can't possibly take account of all situations and that athletes had to stress the correct physiological system for their intended event regardless of TCL.
I took this to mean that CTL 7was essentialy meaningless. I try to ignore it now.
I'm more interested in work (kj) and intensity now -
I think your third session will be low quality as you will be too tired from doing them so close together and your fourth week will risk injury/overtraining/low quality. You also haven't mentioned a rest week which is required and generally after each 2-3weeks
If you test as the first session back after your rest week you will get an idea of improvement/find it so painful you'll give up.

Hey getting out and doing a test is a major win and declaration of intent. I hate them soooo much.
