1. It'd probably be close enough for single speed. Pompetamine doesn't have an eccentric bb.

2. Quick release would be OK: internal cam types (Shimano) would be better. Best would be nutted axle.

3. Yes. You might need to adjust the brake caliper a bit.

Yep. Once it's built I'll try to find some decent looking 110mm x 5 bolt cranks to replace the Impacts. Needs a new BB anyway but this one will do for now.

Turns out I can't count. Bolt-on cog gives a chainline of about 53mm, not 43mm so Pista was never going to work anyway with such a short BB. Does mean I can put the ring on the outside of the Impact cranks and it wont look quite so bad.

New Kaffenback 2 will definitely take 700 x 32mm tyres + guards. Might work with 650 x 38 - I can check tonight.

Thanks. Had another look at the cranks tonight and they've got to come off. Looks shit with the ring on the inside and they're 165mm - I'd like to try 170mm instead. So, what to chose? Got a compact Shimano Hollowtech II on the Kaffenback so know they'll fit a Pomp, but like the idea of Campag Ultra Torque. Would have to be aluminium though, which means NOS if I can find them...

More fettling tonight. Lovely Campag Record Pista cranks gave perfect chainline on a 107mm UN55 BB but the crank just touched the chainstay:

Swapped for an ugly Stronglight Impact with ring on the inside instead:

Decided that discs on road bikes were ace, so had to sell the fixed gear and a bunch of other stuff and get a Pompetamine in PX's winter sale:

Couldn't justify new wheels yet, so had to use the old set off my 29er, unridden since 2012. Needed to rebuild the bearings on the WTB Single Duty hub, fit a smaller disc to the front and bolt on a 18T Velosolo cog:

(Bolt heads stuck out too far and fouled the fork so swapped for SS button heads)

Ignore seatpost height and bar position, just threw them on. Need to fit different brake levers, retape the bars and fit cranks and BB next. 32mm Panaracer Paselas and black SKS guards also to go on.

Arrived today. Need to clear some room in the shed first but will probably get started on it over the weekend.
