Hi just wondering what is the benefit of using Garmin BaseCamp instead of copying the files over directly to the GPS' file structure?

just did a factory reset - I'll start over and hopefully it wasn't an odd setting. I'll re-copy over the maps. should I use .gpx (track) or .gpx (route)?

I haven't used Garmin Express - I just took a look at it and will download it. I was just doing the manual file transfer via USB to upload the files before. Still doesn't make sense to me... I'll do a factory reset too

Thanks - I did download .GPX previously but then I couldn't get turn-by-turn directions working, plus, the 35-40 ft issue was still there so hence why I tried .TCX.

Hi - I'm not using the premium version, just the free version downloading the .TCX file. any ideas?

Hi - no I'm not using Garmin BaseCamp - I just downloaded the .TCX file from ridewithgps.com and manually transferred it to the GPS via USB cable. This is the same way my friend with an Edge 800 does so thought I'd try this approach. Should I be using Garmin BaseCamp?

Hi- I map my rides on ridewithgps.com, download the file and upload it on the Garmin. I've got this problem where the garmin acquires a GPS fix, starts telling me turn by turn directions, but it's about 45-55ft off!

So for example, it says need to turn left on Essex Road in 200 ft ... I will get to the junction where to turn left and it still says I have 45ish feet to go! Any ideas why?

Do I need to calibrate the GPS or something? I can't find a setting to do this..

Thanks for the link - just looked at this and saw this step:
Change Routing Mode to Cycling

I had it on 'Cycle Touring' - just changed it to Cycling. maybe this will do the trick? I'll give it a go this weekend.

This is with two methods of navigating:
1) via a route that I made via ridewithgps.com, transferring the .gpx file
2) having the gps search for an address and having it route to the address on the gps itself (no gpx file)

I can understand method 1 but not really method 2 as it's on the gps itself...?

Hi, I have a Garmin Touring device - i think it's similar to an Edge 800. I've loaded maps onto it and a route... for some reason the device is about 35-40 ft off. meaning, it tells me to turn to a street, 35-40 ft AFTER i'm supposed to.... i don't see a way to calibrate the device - any tips pls?

Considering getting the Leyzne KTV light set. It has a built in usb to charge and connect directly into a laptop. Does anyone know if you can still charge it with a micro USB cable (as I won't always have a laptop with me)?
