Older post, but some more recent info may help to anyone with this issue. The Edge 25 is tiny. You could easily stow it in a sock/pocket and no one would know. It's not like the Edge 705 will give you any useful data indoors that the 25 can't. For reference the 25 has all the same features as the 500.

No issue with dish. Just wanted a way to be sure the 292 would fit. I was also concerned that is I made the rim symmetrical to the flanges, the rim would be 4mm off centre within the bike. I guess I'll have to dig around for some different spacers and get it fitted central that way.

No, the spacer is fitted under the locknut, it's a 4mm washer. The locknuts are 10mm. Total OLD is 120

No, that won't work. the spacer is there to account for the fixed-side being a longer thread. If I lace it symmetrically between flanges the rim won't be central in the frame. I can't remove the spacer because then the OLD won't be 120mm and will mean customising the frame spacing which is hassle.

I guess I should measure flange to flange and half it (duh). Is it inside or outside of flanges?

I measured the centre from locknut to locknut, and there's a spacer in one side for some reason, probably the cause of the discrepancy...
