Just picked this up, super happy. Planning on turning it into something trail-oriented. First up is a clutch derailleur and a single narrow-wide ring up front. Also needs new, and bigger, tires and a longer seatpost as this one is at maximum extension according to the seller but I need a couple of cm's more.

Somewhat, "brommen" is a verb which means making a humming / buzzing / droning sound. According to an etymological dictionary it's indeed an onomatopoeia. And a "brommer" is a thing that "broms".

I'm tempted to buy a Ridley X-night frame, seems to be in decent state but without fork. Since I'm new to this disc brake / tapered steerer lark I'm not too sure what to expect.
What are the odds of finding a fork for reasonably cheap? How hard is it to come by the correct set of brakes and corresponding wheels? And is €300 a reasonable price for such a frame?

Exactly, that's why I looked up a real one to see what it should look like.
I think it can be done properly with swept surfaces. But I've spent 60% of the last couple months in Siemens NX' freeform toolbox, so might be a case of "if all you have got is a hammer"... I'll have a go on the train tomorrow, maybe I can save you from an evening of agony.

Cazakstan - Seatpost delayed and doesn't arrive until late August.
TomvanHalen - a seatpost arrives on time but it's the wrong one
dj - seatpost arrives and bike doesn't fit
Turtlerecall - look send an almost complete L96 frameset, the only thing missing is the seat clamp.
jambon - seat 'mast' arrives on time and fits correctly but Hoke's piles worsen and can't sit on saddle.
Scilly.Suffolk - CRACK
PhilDAS - they send it with Yodel, you wait in all day but they don't knock. Instead leaving it in your "safe place" by which they mean next to a wheelie bin
BN - Everything arrives on time and fits perfectly, but Ho decides to quit track and take up competitive pie eating
Tijmen - A pro-Brexit customs officer breaks it and adds a note that says "Buy British!" -
I bought a similar frame for my sister's then boyfriend about a year ago, the fades are even cooler in person.
