As I said, I was just pointing out it's something they really need to work on.
I provided my business, when openly asked, in order to show that I'm not just some random complaining about it but someone with an informed opinion on finishing in clothing; it wasn't meant to be a comparison with sportswear.
I might just add that a fully hand stitched shirt, made in Italy with the best English fabrics (one area we might still be called a world leader), would cost almost similar to a PT Jersey. So ultimately...who needs to put their house in order?

Surely a one off prototype would be finished to a higher level of quality than a mass produced garment? A prototype is, and should be, the purest example of the product you wish produced.
I have a menswear business selling hand made clothing myself and as far as I'm concerned the finishing is truly awful (especially for the price charged). I'm not the only one to point this out, another member here who said his gf worked in fashion said she complained of exactly the same things.
At the end of the day not many people know what they're looking at when it comes to finishing standards in clothing but if you're in the trade yourself, it's appalling.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a rant and I'm a Rapha fan boy, but it's one area they really need to improve.

Their finishing does seem a little off on quite a few products. For example a pair of pro team gloves i ordered recently had loose stitching when out of the bag. They'll go back.
The odd thing is you can even spot a lot of finishing problems on the item photographs on the website if you look closely; such as loose or wonky stitching, and unfinished edges to the fabrics sticking out, fabric not trimmed to make seams neat etc. Seems odd that they'd use them as the couple of photos you get an idea of the product and finishing from before you order.

Designed following a direct request from Team Sky to have tights with a pad stitched in.

RCJLT tights all have pads stitched in from what I've seen, too.

My Rapha winter tights w/pad are certainly very compressive.
Almost every other high end manufacturer has moved on from tights w/o pads now (including Rapha), they belong in the <00's or on people who still think that's the way to do it because they're traditionalists. There's a reason Team Sky and RCJLT requested tights with pads (almost every WT/conti team kit i've seen comes with them as standard)...it's far less fuss 7AM on a freezing morning to get geared up and also the fit is superior.
Further to that tights cover almost any training circumstances the whole A/W. Thermal bibs really are quite niche and yes, I'd own a pair, but not before normal winter tights...

HED are really expensive here in Italy unfort., likewise ENVE and I believe in supporting my LBS as that relationship is more important to me than a few hundred euros.
They do have ENVE but the price is another ~€700 on the Zipps and ~€1000 on the Mavic CCU's and this is something of an unnecessary purchase as it is...

So effectively the new PTJ is just a long sleeve pro team jersey with windproof panels?
I have a RCJLT gilet which would be very similar if so and the rider told me it was Team Sky influenced...maybe this is feedback from the pros saying that the old PTJ was pretty useless in their view (ran too hot...too bulky etc).

Presumably as they're based on an older Giro model now.
