I got a new rattle on today's ride and realised at the end of it that the sunken nut holding the mudguard onto the fork had fallen off at some point.
It's a kinesis 4s disc, so a fairly deep carbon fork just with a bolt through from the mudguard thing at the front through the fork crown. Any idea what length of sunken nut I'd need? I can't remember what I fitted the first time around... Will loctite it this time though.

You can use a hose with syringe attached (IIRC) but be careful as mine fell off and pissed fluid everywhere.
It's a weird design choice and was my first experience of setting up/bleeding hydro brakes.
Helped my mate build his SRAM Rival disc bike more recently and that's got sensible screw on hoses and syringes which are a lot neater and less prone to popping off for no reason.
It should be noted that I'm a rank amateur, so maybe proper mechanics don't have the same idiot problems that I do.

Ha! Or really high gears. Those people grinding along at 15rpm with their kneecaps about to pop off into orbit. Just shift down.
I've seen one guy a few times on my commute who seems to be stuck in the easiest gear, he speeds away from lights and then puts in about 10 superfast pedal strokes, coasts for a bit and repeats all the way to the next set of lights. Never changes gear. I almost asked him about it once. Might offer to have a fiddle with his derailleur next time I spot him.

So I've got a Specialized prevail helmet at the mo, I seem to have a specialized shape of head. I've occasionally tried on other helmets and found I really don't have a Giro or Kask shaped head. Guess my head is less round and more narrow.
Anyway, I've noticed my helmet has a crack in it. Are there any other makes that cater for narrow specialized shaped heads?
Also, anyone had experience of specialized's crash replacement thing?

I'm surprised this can happen. Is she suggesting someone with an illicit card reader is tapping her card without her say-so to nick money? If so, that's pretty much the easiest thing ever for her bank to get the money back and get the reader and whoever has the account for the reader blacklisted/nicked.

Cheers, just had a look and that clamp system looks like a bit of a hassle... I take it it's 31.6? I'll let you know what he says.
@MechaMorgan, I'll keep you posted.
Oh and he's getting road shoes and Exustar Keo pedals as well, should bring the weight down to a little under 8kg I think.

Dunno if they should, but in my experience on both bikes I've got the blocks fitted to, they've both left marks/gouges on the seatpost (thomson alu in both cases).
I didn't go nuts overtightening them, just tightened them enough to stop the bag moving and had a layer of electrical tape under the mount as well.
I hate using a rucksack, and this'd be pretty much exclusively for a 28mi each way commute to do once or twice a week, so would prefer something on the seat tube/saddle than something rubbing my legs on the top tube...

I've got the minimods chubby shock (or something like that), it looks like this.
No creaking and much firmer than the original firm block. I got the firmest one. 2nd hand from ebay for £15 or so.

Weird, both my alu seatposts have got quite big marks from the two bolts on the SQR block. Definitely not something I'd want with a carbon post...
Although my list of stuff doesn't sound like much, I'm carrying the same amount of stuff currently in a Carradice Stockport bag (also 16L) on my Brompton and that's pretty much full. Again, not compressed, but it fills it.
-
Hmm, maybe you're right. Although apparently the capacity of the SQR Tour is 16l and that was always pretty full... I suppose it wasn't compressed at all, and there was always room for extra bits if I needed.
So what would you recommend that isn't a chopped up evian bottle? :)
Edit: @psee I found an old comment of yours saying you've got one of those uraltour bags. Are you still using it? How is it?

I've been commuting with an Carradice SQR Tour for a few years now, but have recently switched to a carbon post so I'm not really inclined to put the SQR clamp on it.
What bike packing velcro/strap seatpost/saddle-mounted bag could I use that'd be able to hold the following:
2 x inner tubes
Multitool
Boxers
Socks
Shirt
Wallet
Keys
Work phone, ID and that sort of thing.I just typed 'bikepacking' into ebay and found this, which looks about right but is there anything better/similar for the same kind of money or cheaper?
Should note that there's a "v2" of the above bag which looks like it'd work better if there's less seatpost showing, but I've got 20cm or thereabouts of seatpost so I guess either would work.
Cheers!

So Mike appears to be 1km ahead now.
