Beater so far:

Indexing still causing me strife and waaaaay to small for me but I'm amazed how well she rides - very planted, quick and rolls well (open pro on ultegra, 6 yrs old and still true and fast).
Soon as I sort out gearing and put an inline post in for a normal sized person I'll have to let her go. Shame.

here's my 2 cents
While arbitrary culture is found amongst adults everywhere on
earth, it is most easily viewed amongst children.... ...Such is the making of slaves.
This breakdown of the human spirit eventually forces
everyone to conform. Very few will even think of fighting the
power structure, almost everyone accepts authority. You been reading Enders Game?!?

Try cycling/driving in Singapore (or Malaysia) where the Kiasu attitude (grasping, selfish attitude) makes driving, cycling or being a ped outrageously dangerous... It's the most extraordinary way of life but it only really happens when people are 1) driving, 2) getting in/out of lifts and 3) getting on/off tubes or busses.
Honestly it makes cycling in London seem like bliss - but then again I have never tried commuting.

I'm struggling to get my Sora RD and Deore trigger shifters set up correctly. Is there a ratio difference between MTB shifters and road derailleurs? On the stand she shifts fine put in real world pedaling scenarios there is constant slippage through the entire range of 9 cogs.
Doing my nut in!
9 speed Shimano road shifters and 9 speed Shimano MTB shifters pull the same amount of cable.
10 speed Shimano Road shifters and 10 speed Shimano MTB shifters pull different amounts of cable.
I'm def 9 sp on both. Given that information I can now ascertain that either I am a shit bike mechanic who can't dial in index gears properly or my RD is fooked.
Brand new cable and housing - could it be I dont have a big enough 'loop' of cable running from the chain-stay to the RD...? no.. I'm grasping at straws now aren't I. Goddam this is annoying!

lop pair of open pros, old sora 9sp RD, pedals off, crank bros on (only thing spare at mo) and a bit of a clean. Anyone know anything abt these GT Force chromo's? Assume late 90s early 2000 cos Shimano rsx bits.
Stem is going as are drops, going for mtb trigger shifters and risers but will they work with current stock brakes (shimano 300 ex), and sora rd? Have spare xt rd if needs be.

Dumb question, need to convert from drop bars to moustache or similar to give more upright position. Bought a yepp mini stem mounted kids seat and with a Surly LHT the head tube angle is so slack it puts the seat right in my lap, and I'm riding a 64 cm frame. Currently using shimano sora index shifters, xtr long cage RD, generic shimano FD.
What sort of trigger, thumb or other shifts will work with swept back, moustache or any other type of bar that's going to give me a bit more room and work with current set up? Also need a set back post anyway so that'll help a bit.Any help muchos appreciated.

Back in London for 10 days-ish 12th June onwards (from Singapore). Looking for a tandem frame to take back with us - in a perfect world would be frame only with couplers.
I am 6'5" and ride a 63cm, missus is around 5'8"
Will look at complete bikes or frames, no pref on make/model. We are newbies to ta-ta-ta-tandems so not looking to spend a fortune - just want to get out with the wife and the kid so we can all enjoy a bit of a trip every now and again.
Rack em up..!

This is pure class. These chaps are hardcore fair play.
