Does anyone here use extended display mode on garmin forerunner/edge?
I have a forerunner 745 and an edge 520 plus, both of which support extended display mode, however I cannot get it to display power when in this mode. According to garmin website it’s supposed to reflect the data screens from your watch, but it doesn’t seem to show power data in either bike only or multi sport mode.
Any ideas?

I’m on a coached 70.3 plan through training peaks, and the first 2 weeks were dedicated to testing. Copied them below to give you an idea on how it was structured but obviously scale it back for Olympic.
Monday: swim test and easy 6km run
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday: easy swim (5x200) and 7km tempo run
Thursday: 1 hour z2 turbo
Friday: rest
Saturday: run test
Sunday: 40km z2 bike
Monday: swim (8x100) and 7km easy run
Tuesday: 1 hour z2 turbo
Wednesday: I skipped a run due to a slight calf twinge I didn’t want to risk injuring, but was prescribed 7km tempo
Thursday: swapped my prescribed swim for a hard coached session, 1 hour z2 turbo
Friday: rest
Saturday: ftp test
Sunday: easy 10km run -

Any recommendations on a good base bar/aero bar combo? Atm I’ve just got the fairly basic vision cockpit that came with the boardman air tt bike I bought, which offers zero adjustability. Sounds fairly fussy to put it in writing but I’d like something that’s fairly aesthetically pleasing where the risers bold directly to the aero bar - as opposed to just getting new aero bars for my vision base bar and using the clamp extenders

I narrowed it down to canyon stoic 4, nukeproof scout 290 elite and that Santa Cruz (mainly because of desire to own a sc). Couldn’t make nukeproof work due to cost, so went for canyon stoic 4. Nukeproof definitely has the best spec but is also the most expensive. The brakes on my bike aren’t great, but hoping a bleed will sort that.

Any T4 owners/fanatics on here?
Back story: Sold my 325i and wife’s corsa earlier this year when baby arrived and got a 3 year old dull but amazingly useful touran from the local vw dealer. It’s been an absolute workhorse, and clocked up 20k kms since April, including a drive to south France and back. It has been great being a single car family, but we’ve been caught out with a need for a second car a handful of times recently, and have an increasing need for one now that baby is a year old and doing more activities.
I was thinking of getting something small and fun, but I also want something that’ll take a bike/tri gear for racing. I also want to buy something local enough and save myself the grief of a 7 hour round trip to Dublin.
With that, this t4 caravelle popped up for sale on my road earlier this week so I wandered up for a look. Lovely family, bought it in 2006 when they were expecting baby number 6, well used but meticulously maintained. Arches are a bit bubbly and crusty on the outside, but solid on the inside. Sills solid. Under windscreen and bulkhead solid. Drove tight as a nut, was very surprised by how tight it drove with no rattles or knocks. 2.5 5cyl intercooled tdi, belts last done about 50k miles/5 years ago, so needs changing imminently.
My intention would be to remove the rear bench, keeping it a 5 seater, but with a fork clamp style bike rack, and storage for wetsuit etc. tinted rear windows etc.
Anything I should be looking out for? Does the asking price seem reasonable or do I have a leg to stand on asking for money off to cover timing belt replacement?

All of your gains will come as a side effect of: Running
Fair point.
I was looking at some of the trainingpeaks training plans you can buy for about $100, and a pal is using one atm, but it doesn’t seem too much more interactive than just taking a free plan and saving the cash, plus I’ve a few big swimming races planned as my secondary focus for the year so don’t want to limit my swim time to 1-2 days a week like almost every plan suggests.
Thanks @Retro_Bastard, might pick up a copy for the bookshelf, and @Tallboy will take a look!

What’s the guidance on shin splints?
Some background: long time cyclist, very occasional runner, took up more serious running/tri last year including 2 half marathons, and carried it into this year with a couple of middle distance tri’s locked in.
Upped training mileage beginning of this year and steadily increased to a weekly total of 35km last week (mix of z2 and one tempo run a week). Had an easy week this week with a z1 8km Thursday and a z1 10km Saturday. Notice some tenderness to touch on my inner right shin, and some discomfort while standing walking.
I’ve fallen arches and got new insoles middle of last year. I had some calf tightness in my right calf when I started training properly in January, but I skipped one run and foam rolled and was all good again. At one point last year I had some right knee pain that physio traced to weak outer glutes, but some lying leg extensions evened that out, and I’ve continued to do them occasionally when I think of it. Given it’s all been on the right side that I’ve had issues, im guessing it’s somewhat linked.
I have used Nike Pegasus since I started running more seriously last year, and replaced with the same again every 500km. I have a feeling they may not be cushioned enough for my nearly 90kg self.
I’m taking the coming week off running entirely, and I’ve a run assessment booked in for next Saturday to get some more appropriate footwear, but at what point do you go see a physio? And is there anything else tried and tested I should be doing in the meantime? I’m mostly nervous that the damage is already done and a stress fracture might mean no middle distance racing this year…
