Picking Dennis and Martin in my Velogames team proved a stoke of luck.

Thirteen miles in some lovely country side east of Brizzle today. Legs literally covered in grass burns and nettle stings. Finished the run and they were like one massive raised welt. Looooooovely.

Concur with that, I would always pick cold dark winter running over hot hayfevery runs with grass rash.

Mine certainly does for both my Forerunner 405 and Edge 500.

Was the course rideable this year?

I did the first year at the new venue (and one at the old venue) and found it mostly impossible - lots of long fireroad descents into 90 degree corners straight into 15-20% uphills. Lots of walking for everyone, especially when it got wet.

(Although there was a fantastic drop on the first descent that was catching people out left right and centre.)

^ I've heard mixed reviews. I have a 3 and a bit year old Forerunner 405 which (touch wood) has been about as flawless as electronic devices get.

Raced a 5k tonight. Technically a 5k PB although I have run a 10 where both halves were quicker than tonight (hills etc).

Came 6th also.

I rode 50 miles for the first time in a while, out of Brizzle, over the big bridge to Chepstow, quick loop round then back.

Need to plan something longer/multi day into Wales as even the small bit I rode was lovely.

Judging by the track looks like our intrepid forumer has crossed the border.

Nah it was reverted to Sosenka's record, so some of the Boardman/Obree records stood, others didn't.

Someone will correct me but I think they decided that it had to have been set on a pursuit legal bike at the time the record was set.

I prefer slightly less toasted toast anyway.

Just back off holiday where I finally finished Moby Dick, and read The Martian and A Colder War, all three of which I would recommend.

I also read the first two stories in North American Lake Monsters but it might be a bit spooky for me.

My commute was two hours ago and I'm still soaked.

That's a savage race. My dad has attempted it a couple of times, can't think of anything worse than endless canals.
