A cyclist was knocked unconscious after being hit by a brick or a bottle thrown from a passing car.
The 41-year-old was cycling along a dirt track between Bolton Road, Bickershaw and Landgate Lane, Bryn, when a silver Ford Focus drove past, narrowly missing him. The driver did a handbrake turn and the cyclist gestured at the motorist due to his manner of driving.
A short time later the cyclist heard the car coming up behind him. He pulled up at the side of the road and when the car drove past at speed he felt a blow to his face that caused him to lose consciousness.
When he came round he found his face covered in blood and went to a nearby farm where he summoned help. It is thought he may have been hit with a brick or bottle.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries that required internal and external stitches to his lip.
The car was a silver Ford Focus, possible a 02 or 03 plate. There were two people inside: both white and aged between 17 and 20. One had short dark hair and the other short light coloured hair.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 11.30am on October 22.

School sometimes try and tell me off with some nonsense about cycling, be it helmets or whatever. I just ignore them.
Sounds like you were filming on the highway and they can eff off. If they go for the passive-aggressive approach, ignore. If they write you a letter then I would respond something along the lines of:
Dear Head,
I understand that you object to me filming the dangerous driving and illegal parking that is committed by parents, which puts me and my child at risk. As this behaviour is taking place on a public highway, it is entirely lawful and reasonable for me to film it, both to protect ourselves and as an aid to crime prevention.
However, I would advise you that if you wish to extend your jursidiction beyond the school gates that you may be deemed partially or fully liable for accidents caused in this area, e.g., by your failure to ensure that parents drive and park safely, and in accordance with the law.
Irrespective of this, I will continue to film the highway and report illegal and dangerous driving to the police when possible.
Yours truly,
etc.

Latest on the story is that the man who was subject of this attack, perhaps unsurprisingly, has a disability, which is why he uses this vehicle.

So nice of Cuntstanton in his big truck to say that he should not be alive.

Bike has been returned. Apparently the van driver took the deceased's phone number for him to call and return the bike, but obviously he never got that call.
So no wrongdoing there.

can I just ask that people take a deep breath before emailing obscenities his way. I understand the inner outrage but it's just not helpful.
I agree. It's much more helpful to link to this thread:

Soon enough, the whole world will know that Councillor Michael Stanton is a cunt.
Much better than telling him in person.

I'm sure he'll find it soon enough: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=councillor+michael+stanton

http://www.sun-fm.com/news/local/801267/cyclist-dies-in-sunderland-accident/
A cyclist has been killed as he swapped details with a driver following an accident in Sunderland.Stan Coates from West Herrington was involved in a minor collision in Burdon Lane in the Ryhope area on Friday.
As the 55 year old recovered from that, he was hit by another car.
Police want to trace two men in a gray transit van who offered to take the bike home just before the second crash - the cycle hasn't been returned.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-20114930
Northumbria Police said two men in a Transit van claiming to know and live near Mr Coates had pulled up and taken the bicycle after the first collision.
But the bike is now missing and police are appealing for witnesses.
The police force said the men, in a grey van, "looked as if they had just finished work".
Mr Coates was flown in nine minutes to James Cook Hospital, in Middlesbrough, by the Great North Air Ambulance.
The service said it had been unable to land at a hospital in Newcastle because of snow.
Officers questioned the driver of the car which struck Mr Coates, of West Herrington, but no arrests were made.

BTW his National Forest 'interest' is that he owns it.
170 acres of it, which he doesn't want to pay tax on:

The Burton Mail tells us
A CYCLIST who travels around South Derbyshire on a high-tech bike will ‘kill himself or someone else’
Really?
*The man criss-crosses the roads around Repton on a recumbent cycle, *
Criss-crosses? This must be a pretty fucking high-tech bike to go sideways.
Or do you just mean 'The man rides a recumbent cycle in the Repton area'
where the rider pedals in a lying position, a configuration which is supposedly more comfortable and more aerodynamic than traditional bikes.
Supposedly? I don't think there's any supposedly about it.
The meeting heard the cyclist was routinely followed in a van by his wife, who filmed him ‘for his own protection’ because of the abuse he received from other road users.
So this man is being abused by other people and the Burton Mail apparently condones it? Where are the police to arrest these people?
Michael Stanton, who represents Repton on South Derbyshire District Council, said he had a close encounter with the cyclist when emerging from the driveway of his home in Ticknall in his pick-up truck.
So Cllr. Stanton drives a TRUCK.
In case anybody was confused, here's a normal car that normal, non-psychopathic people drive, pictured next to a pick-up truck:

In other words Cllr. Stanton has made an anti-social car choice that blocks people's view from behind and the side, and which evidently also makes him a fucking menace, since he admits, in public, that he cannot see other road users, something which is clearly influenced by the height of his giant truck.
Cllr. Stanton said:
“I was about to pull out when I noticed this wire going past the bonnet with a pennant on it, then I saw this fellow go past lying on his back in a cylindrical type object."
So you saw him ok.
“If it had been one second later I would have killed him. If he gets killed it probably serves him right, but the problem is, he may end up killing or injuring someone else."
It would serve him right? He deserves to die because you don't like his choice of transport?
He deserves to die because you choose to drive in a vehicle that you've admitted in public you can't see out of properly?
Councillor Stanton added after the meeting that the cyclist "risked killing himself or others and suggested he would be ‘better off going to Dignitas’ — the Swiss clinic which carries out assisted suicide."
Councillor Stanton, you are an utter, utter cunt.
Anyone in the Derbyshire should watch out for this man:
