This arrived today. I have a question about fitting a headset.
It looks like the head tube - where the top half of the headset would be pressed into - is slightly out of round. I think a manufacturing error as there are no dings or creases.
Will this make it difficult (impossible?) to press in the headset?
I’m not expecting perfection btw, on a £180 frame from the 90s - so happy to run with it.
Photo attached - if the zip tie is at 2 o clock, the out of roundness is at about 4 o clock.

We’re currently in Germany, visiting family. I have a bike here so get out on the odd morning for 2/3 hours.
On Saturday, I decided to take a slightly different route up to the Vineyards in Schnait and Aichelberg. Rather than climbing up through and beyond Diegelsberg, I followed the road along the Nassachtal (Nassach valley) and through Nassach and Baiereck before rejoining my usual route.
It was hot and new surfacing in Baiereck made for an interesting kilometre or so. But after that, the shade of the forest offered some respite on the remainder of the climb and the road surface was - as usual - flawless.
Before the descent into Schnait, there’s a tree-lined plateau and a couple of defunct wind turbines. Then the view opens up across the vineyards and the next valley over.
The descent into Schnait is smooth, flowing and sinuous and you lose nearly all of the gained elevation over as little as 1.5km.
From that point, it’s a ride home alongside the railway and through industry on the edge of Uhingen and back into the villages.
The next time we visit, I need to service the bike and I think that will include swapping out the 53/39-12/25 combo.

I’ll soon be in possession of a mixture of Record and Chorus EPS. It has seen better days, on a bike sat on a balcony year round.
So bolts have surface rust and the black carbon / plastic surfaces are faded by the sun. I’m happy dismantling everything to get to bolts etc, but what’s the best method of bringing colour and shine back to the black parts?
Something from the Autoglym range perhaps?
That's not a defence.
