I mean it’s easy to say “okay boomer”, isn’t it? Reality is that local councils waste money hand over fist. Calling me a boomer doesn’t make that not a fact.

I have no interest in changing it; I’ll just contribute to it as little as possible. Do you realise how ingrained you have to be in a local council to change how it awards contracts?

When local councils start showing that they spend their income responsibly, I might start to lose sleep about not giving them more than I absolutely have to.

Until then, well they get enough from me already.

I tried for 10minutes at Kelling Beach, no app (!) and after being on the phone for countless button presses, was told my card had been declined. I hadn’t even entered card details. Gave up and enjoyed an hour on the beach without paying.

Then a good news story up the road, in Holt. Parked in the Short Stay to pop to the bakery - pressed the green button on the machine, to select a duration, and it spat out a 30min ticket for £0.00. Not normal - min price is £1.20 even on Sundays.

So yeh the whole thing is a shambles.

FWIW, also, you can park wherever you like in London for free unless you’re really unlucky. Most places there’s no ANPR and nowhere near enough wardens.

The DVLA will assist (by passing information to the police), if the car is parked illegally and/or obstructing egress via a dropped kerb. I'm not sure wanting the space for a scaffolding lorry is enough to warrant any action being taken.
