Funny one this....
Just at the bottom of Rosebery avenue, a driver was having a should I go up here (to Angel), or carry straight on (to Old Street) and was pausing at the fork. The driver behind him started to toot which might be what caused him to pull the right without looking. He hit a cyclist but stopped and the cyclist was no more than knocked off bike and had to pull his bike up off the ground to avoid it getting bent. Could have been worse, but it wasn't.
Anyway, the guy who was leaning on his horn now had to wait while the two people involved sorted it out (I wonder if that will learn him?). The cyclist and the driver both got out / dismounted and were full of "dear oh dear" smiles. Numbers and apologies were exchanged and both got on their way with a handshake.
Sometimes it is just an accident. Just be pleased it wasn't worse, do the admin and get on with your day.
Good work guys.

Got deliberately rammed from behind at traffic lights as they turned green this morning. By an aggressive horrible man, straight onto 999, as was the bus driver and witnesses, and then went to a station to report it.
Not one to be afraid, but this could have put a lot of nice people of cycling.
Did you get the guy's car reg? Did the police turn up? Good that the bus driver and others were helpful.
I've said it before - if you can't be responsible with a car, your license should be revoked until you can show that you can be, i.e. pass the test again. Should be no allowances whatsoever for this sort of thing. I have children and I hate to think they are out there with these people driving cars around in the same town.

I had one of those Monocogs. Well actually, I had one like that, and it got stole. That's not it though, mine got taken with carbon on-one forks, and I still have the brown ones at home - like you got there. The day I lost it, my wife said fuck 'em, go buy a better one, so I did, went to Atlanta (business trip - the bike buying was on the sie) and bought the Flight Monocog which is a sort of bright blue, not brown. Wicked bike, same as the basic, but with disks. Now upgraded to hydros. I love it.

I've got an old road bike and am thinking of replacing the bars, or maybe just the levers. Maybe you could help me clarify my options:
It's got a quill stem, the pinch on the current bars seems to be about 25.7 or so. Does anyone know the standard size that is really?
The bars seem to be thinner where the tape is (and the levers are mounted) in such a way that they are the same size where the tape is and isn't. Does anyone know what the diameter of the more narrow bit will be?
So, if I were to buy some new levers, like some Shimano 2300 8 speed shifters (or whatever), what size handlebar can they be fitted to?
What size are new bars? Drops? Can they be bought in a size which will fit my stem, and will fit a set of modern shifters like the Shimanos?
You will probably have noticed I am not going for an age-specific refit here. I am basically tooling up an old bike with new kit, so that I can enjoy riding it. The bike was nothing special anyway.
Maybe later I will slot a nice frame in there too. If I can find a 60cm Reynolds for next to nothing :-)

Reminds me: About a year ago, I was riding down Rosebery avenue and some guy on a beat up MTB nearly rode into/over a old lady who was crossing the zebra near the Wilmington Pub. Said pedestrian shouted something like "Can you see me here?" after the MTB rider. He slowed down, turned around and spat, a big gobby spit, in that "this is what I think of you" sort of way. Left me feeling like everyone who saw it had been assaulted. Maybe I am sensitive, but I was left thinking about it all morning.
Again, a cunt.

Ha ha! It's a garage.... a whole garage! Great idea though.... use ebay instead of paying someone to knock it down and take it away. Thinking of getting the garden landscaped? Don't bother...
For sale: Loads of old soil and weeds. Buyer must come and spend the weekend landscaping and replanting with nice trees and shrubs.
@mdcc_tester
Thanks. Will go and check measurements... and see how it all fits.
