All good, hope you get it figured out to suit you. I looked into this a fair bit when we moved. We just about manage two of us wfh with actual speeds of 40/10. We often have lots of photo/video to upload which is painful and we invariably let it happen overnight. So jealous of people who have fttp. Would love symmetric speeds in the hundreds, but not happening anytime soon here.

Time to split this up. Still available as one if anyone is interested for £220
I’m in Dorset if anyone local wants to view/collect, and I’m happy to take more photos of it for anyone interested before working out postage.

A&A are very technically aware and capable. Especially if you have a problematic line, they will be able to sort things out well, and get the most out of it. If your line is just the speed it is, rather than has issues, A&A won’t be able to magic it faster. Likely that any other provider’s service will work just as well.
If faster internet is really important to you, look into bonded lines (will cost more), 4/5G routers with a mobile network, or maybe consider starlink. Just depends how much to bandwidth is worth it for you.
I was gutted when we moved and our place only has 40mbit/s download after being used to 80. Can’t justify the other costs though. -
The broadband checker from A&A internet is very accurate, and there is a link on there to the BT wholesale checker. Will prob confirm what you already know to be honest. https://www.aa.net.uk/broadband/home1/
Yes to your other question, no point paying for a faster service that you can technically get.
With A&A you can get bonded lines to double your speed but it costs. I’m not with them but used to be - fantastic service. -

Discovery plus is exactly what Eurosport player used to be (plus a load of other crappy tv). On the basic package, which I have as a yearly sub, there are advert free streams of basically all cycling stuff. If you watch the E1 or E2 branded streams those do have adverts. Can’t remember when I last watched something without advert free option. Also has many other language options.

Yeah thanks, I’m aware that lots don’t do full backup. My dad’s got a Powerwall which does and the new Givenergy AIO 13.5kWh battery also does full backup. Can’t see the point without that personally. We might not have frequent power cuts, but the 1 or 2 a year we do have, with a battery that we couldn’t use would drive me crazy.

Prices have not come down round here. Joju quoted so much they clearly don’t want the job. A local firm quoted for 6 panels plus powerwall at £15k. Octopus solar was cheapest (generic) quote so far at £11k for 8 panels and 9.5 battery. I know 8 won’t fit, and they don’t have a grid backup battery option yet. Still too much when savings are likely to be about £500/year.
This tool was v helpful, lots of tweaks available - https://www.photonik.solar/savings-calculator -
I can’t use it either though, cos my current sub overlaps - I replied to your PM hippy. Can’t wait for the Christmas cross season!
