Morning all,
I'm doing up a bike for my Mamma, it's a Dawes Galaxy Mixte frame (no pics I'm afraid, it's already at armourtex). I think it's early eighties, based on the head badge etc.
It had a terrible respray job in dark grey, but on removing the head badge the original colour appears to be a pale green, somewhere between RAL6019 and 6021. http://www.ralcolor.com/
I'm hoping to match, as close as possible, the original colour, for authenticity's sake (and because it's so damn hard to choose that it's as good a place to start as any!). Any thoughts on this?
I'm getting armourtex to powder coat, put the decals on (Dawes, galaxy and reynolds 531), and then clear lacquer.
Is it unheard of to paint on the lug lining myself with humbrol enamel or similar, after it's been lacquered? They were going to charge an extra fifty smackers for the lug lining, and it seems like something I would quite enjoy doing myself!
Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi,
Sorry I don't have photos yet (still at the shop). I have a Claud Butler 531 frame, in OK condition, with Campag dropouts, although one has been repaired. Ballpark figures for value? I've been offered about £20 for it by my local bike shop.
I'm guessing everyone's going to say impossible to say without seeing photos, but I thought I'd ask anyway!
Thanks

I've got a good friend who's moving to London and new to cycling, how can I persuade him not to buy one of the crappy glitsy single speed bikes going on ebay like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TEMAN-Single-Speed-Fixed-Gear-Road-Bike-Ultra-Light-/330754469370
??My gut feeling is that for the sort of money they go for they're going to be total crap and last six months - designed to hang on a wall rather than be cycled. But can anyone point me in the direction of some reviews / opinions confirming this? Even better, any suggestions for alternatives?

^I tried to take a dent out of my car boot with liquid CO2 (Plumbers pipe freezing spray) not a success Unfortunately
Theory is that the metal contracts and dent pops out. If there's been plastic deformation of the metal it may pop out when cold, but will go back again as it reaches ambient temperature.
Worth a punt though for the price of a can of pipe freeze.
The traditional fix is brass (brazing rod) melted into the dent and filed/sanded back.Dent aside, an ok buy? Reynolds 531, shimano 105...

Bagged this for £70 plus £26 for delivery to London.

Win?
What are people's thoughts on the dent in the frame? I've read (on here and elsewhere I think) that you can get dents out of steel frames with something cold like a can of compressed air turned upside down...
If it's not way too late (just been googling for the same thing myself), try this guy http://www.hlloydcycles.com/
There won't be anything on his website but give him a call
