Greetings folks,
Been thinking about kit and which bag to use myself. Problem on this ride is the length between stops, the fact it's at night and in the country and as a result the need to carry more than you might usually do....
Personally I am trying to reduce what I bring, plan my refuel stops better and as a result reduce the weight I carry over the 130 miles this ride will be.
I think I saw that bloke pictured above a few days ago. It's not a look I would choose at my age.
Peace and Love,
TimHigh density carbs for me. Even as far as those energy gels, which are little more than jam in a fancy packet but you fit a bunch in. Those, nuts and flapjacks work for me for rides of this distance. And start with 2L of water.
Anyone know if the air ambulance charity 3am BBQ gazebo will be operating this year? about 100 miles in so pretty well placed for a 'lunch' break.

On a similar note, some tall skinny geezer doing laps last night pulling in front of a car just before a pinch point, much to the dissatisfaction of basically everyone in the chain gang. Never seen so many head shaking in my life!
Chain gangs around Regent's Park can >>>>
Pulling in front of cars at pinch points is basically a good idea, the road gets very narrow around there and I don't fancy a car alongside me through the section.

Think I'm in Bournemouth that weekend for a family thing in the Saturday. Absolutely up for some climbing Sunday if you'd still be around? When are people heading down Friday? Would be up for using some car space/having some train company! Will have to check with Jimbilly, not sure if he's working that weekend or not.
I'm on the 9:35 from Waterloo, coming back Sunday evening.

Got taken out by a left hook this morning on the way to work. Junction of Maida Vale and Carlton Vale.
We were both getting a move on for the lights when he ducks across from the right hand lane to take the left turn. Managed to get a handful of brake and lose some kinetic energy on his wing mirror before going over bonnet and landing on my head. Had time to consider the merits of helmets vs caps on the way down, bizarre how the brain works.
Bust my cycling glasses and fucked my handlebar tape but everything else seems intact.
I will be contacting his insurers when I get home and making sure his no claims bonus doesn't survive. -
