I saw a thread a couple of weeks ago selling some white holdsworth decals for £7.50, but I can't find the thread, anyone got anything? It's also 531 so I could get some decals of that but i'm not sure, depends on the price.

Got some cheap (new) stronglights for £19 posted, square taper 48teeth... pretty low end but alright for a beater

Yeah, I have a frame that fits me a little better, but isn't quite as nice; worse paint, dent in top tube. I'll build that up with these parts if the frame isn't up to it, or maybe just sell it on. Fingers crossed it'll be nice though, it has taken a fair chunk out of my wallet

Ok, I think the top tube is fairly long so I already have a teeny stem on there, but I'll make sure to ask. It works as a single speed for now, so I'll pop down to the LBS at the weekend.

Looks like the seat will stay then, I may switch it out for my san marco rolls at some point but we'll see. Yellow tape would probably be a bit much unless it was an identical shade, and I've got to say I prefer cork to cloth on the whole, but I see what you're saying about the brown tape. I got it resprayed but managed to scratch the paint a few times making it, gutted. I'll have to see about getting it touched up when it is done.

You may not be able to tell from the pic, but I haven't got the bar end shifters cabled up yet, I need to source some cable stops (sjs are out of doubles and other sellers I can find are in the usa). I wont be taping for a while. But in terms of fit are you talking about handlebar height? I hadn't actually thought about that too much so far, I was throwing the bits together first

The wheels are 700c, and the tyres are pretty thin, either 25 or 23, not really sure if I'm honest. Nothing huge though, that's for sure. The frame took a slight ding before I bought it so it's possible the forks may be slightly bent back, but it doesn't actually look like they are.

Been working on this for a while, figured I may as well post a pic so people know what I've been doing with all my parts from the classfields! The idea was to make a touring bike for some longer rides in the summer (london to cambridge etc). Nearly done, just some issues with cables and I need to buy some tape. Not sure about having a yellow seat on that, any thoughts? Also I was thinking just black or brown tape, but suggestions are welcome.

Don't suppose anybody has some decent(ish) 165mm square tapered cranks for sale I could try out? I have a little issue with my toes hitting the front wheel on my fixie, think that may help me out. Looking for either 42t or 48t, could give something else a go though.

nope sorry, found one but it was crusted onto a pretty crappy brake, not worth the while.

pretty nasty frame failures. If it's just surface rust it should be ok; I'd sand it down and either get the whole thing powdercoated/enameled or just buy some touch up paint, depending on how much you have to spend and care about the bike

Making one yourself? I know there are some decent and compact ones for ~£30 which I think you just screw into the wall (you'll need a masonry drill obviously).

Ok, basically I've had a look around for one of those in the UK and all I can find is one on SJS which is out of stock.... I may be being dense, but know any sources closer to home?

Hi everyone, at the end of a project and realising i'm low on cash and have lots of parts I don't need, I think we've all been there. Others are just parts I had lying around from who knows where, but oh well. Add £2 postage unless you live in or around Cambridge. Now posting for free on smaller things!

Unrelated to bikes; I have a peavey vypyr 75watt modelling amp that it in pretty much as new condition, it's only ever been sat in one spot since I got it in october. Retails at £200, and I'm throwing in a sanpera I effects pedal with it which goes for £75, so I'm asking: £230. Not so sure on postage of this, if you're interested I'll get a quote.

Oh yeah I should have realised I would want a double one. I think the frame has enough other than that, it's just the difference between downtube and bar end shifters that mixed it up. If not then I know what I need now, thanks!

Hi all... again with the same project as my rear mech troubles (solved), I've got the whole bike up and running except for the gears. I have some gear cables, and both mechs in place, here is the issue:

The frame has cable stops designed for downtube shifters; I want to use bar end shifters.

How do I work around this? I found some things that apparently drill on to old brazings for downtube shifters, but my frame doesn't have these brazings. Alternatively, I suppose I could use an outer cable for the whole length and just ignore the cable stops? If I did that any suggestions on how to keep the cable flush with the frame in a way that doesn't look disgusting?

Yeah that's a good idea; I was planning on riding my fixie in morning as the holdsworth requires some work but I think it has enough life for a ten mile jaunt.

No idea on the model, it's had a respray and i'm taking his word for it that it's a holdsworth anyway, although I'm sure someone on here could tell me given the frame number and a pic. The bars are some old raleigh ones, so perhaps it's not as original as all that.

sounds a bit knackered, my friend who i bought this bike off is quite particular that I should keep the parts on it nice as he built it up to the period, he also happens to be my boss so it's good to keep him happy! Thanks anyway, I think timmy2wheels' one should do.
