it is wonky straight away, just checked. I guess I'll need to get it faced then, is that something most shops will do or do I need to find a frame builder?

Hey guys, having grown tired of regreasing my old loose bearing bottom bracket I decided to fit a sealed unit one... only to find it seems not to work. The fixed cup (driveside) threads in fine, but if you look into the shell from the non-driveside before installing the other cup, you can see that the axle is not in the centre of the shell. As such, the remaining space around the bottom bracket where the second cup should go is uneven, being much narrower on one side. This ends with me being unable to install the second cup. Any idea how to resolve this? I've heard the bb shell could be faced, but I am not really sure what this entails? Cheers!

Nah I'm in cambridge... I've contacted a local guy but he hasn't got back to me yet. The seat tube definitely needs to be replaced, it has a huge crack. I'll definitely look into it, but I think I'll have to sell a few things first.

Is it though? I don't really see this frame being worth £150+the cost of a paintjob+all the transport/hassle. Especially when you consider that Jaspergh's was cheaper than that even with that markup from the dealer

This is mine, I'm still trying to decide if it is worth getting the seat tube replaced. I think my lbs mate was wrong and it really is 'just' a Joe Waugh.
What sort of cranks are you going for on yours? Something old or modern?

The only reason I brought this up was because a friend of mine at my lbs said it looked like a colnago, and I wanted to check to see if it was worth saving and whether I would need to get different decals etc if I do get it done up. I reckon he's probably wrong considering the responses! I'll email Dave Yates and get back

The guy at my lbs reckons that it is colnago, although the folks on here in the identifying thread seem to think otherwise! Mine has a 531 renovated sticker so I am confident it has had a new paint job. I don't really mind what it is anyway, it is quite lovely :)

Measure the drop, it is a pain to get brakes that are out by a couple of mm and have to buy another set. Search for some with a bolt fitting (eg along brakes from spa cycles) but if you do not find any you like, you can always drill the hole at the back to accept a recessed nut fitting

The sticker says "531 renovated" which is what made me think it may not be a Joe waugh. Not sure of the seat post size due to the tube being so damaged tbh. Might send him an email, quite interested now! The paint job does seem very very good though

hey, I just got donated this frame due to a crack in the seat tube. I was going to cut it up and make a bamboo bike, but I think it could be a repainted colnago that would be worth getting fixed.... any ideas what it is and what it is worth? It has campag dropouts and a cinelli bottom bracket. Also all of the lugs feature this triangle shape which i think is colnago but i'm not sure.
