Caustic sode is cheap, easy and effective but also horribly messy and potentially dangerous.
First time I dissolved a seat post I followed all the warnings and was ok, the second time I was over confident and burnt my hands.
Also the bit the various online videos don't mention is that after the liquid has drained/evaporated it leaves behind loads of the caustic soda and the dust seems to get everywhere and if it gets wet you risk burns again.Best advice is to do what the last owner did, sell it.

Planet X, won't buy anything from them, they just take the proverbial.
The 35% off price, in many cases, is more expensive than just a few days ago because they put the prices up before introducing the 35% off.
As an example, in the past month the Doofer single speed tensioner has been £7.99, £9.99, £11.99, £14.99 and as I type is £17.99 -

From memory I thought it was called a Sport but I didn't realise there was more than one type.
I've just looked on the Carradice website and the pictures of both look exactly the same.
I'll have to dig out the receipt to check.Edit: I can't find the receipt but I think it's a sport, it's different to the models shown on the Carradice site because the support base is flat and the support fits to the clamp in a different way.

I've got one that I'm asking £30 for but I'm in Manchester.
The link shows pictures, TBH the way the support screws into the clamp isn't a work of genius and results in the two becoming separated after a while, therefore I superglued it in place which meant it never came apart again (but if you did want to dismantle it...) -
