The last chilli of the year, a paper lantern. First time I’ve grown them—I was given a plant by a friend. Not a million miles away from scotch bonnets; smaller, pointier, slightly less aggressively hot but with a fruitier taste, thinner and less squishy flesh (but that might be the corner shop freshness factor). Excellent in a cheese sandwich with some mayonnaise to stop it falling out. The plant was manageably small, kind of gangly, and cropped pretty well—the leaves looked a bit yellow-ish, so maybe I under-fertilised? I’m going to prune it hard and see if I can get it to over-winter.

How can we send it to them, assuming after zipping it will still be too big to email.?
Zipping something that’s already compressed as MP3s won’t make it significantly smaller, although it might be useful to bundle multiple files together.
If you post them a USB stick, then they’ll have something to unwrap.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am not a fan of ironing as a process—quite the opposite. The results, however, are usually pleasurable. The tension between these two forces is what I use to justify my refusal to iron That T-Shirt and Those Big Skirts That Never End. I’ll do pillowcases, but not duvet covers or sheets. I don’t own any jeans, but will iron others’ under sufferance.

Have you seen/searched the Routes Database?

Install a ground anchor, either on the ground or the wall, and use a chain if you can’t get the D-lock to fit? Make sure your insurance is up to date. Good luck.

If it comes back, you could take an explicit backup: spread a thin layer on baking paper, dry on a radiator, flake off and break into a sandwich bag, seal & freeze. Reconstitute w/ water & whole rye flour or whatever you usually feed with. My off-site backups are in Kent and New Zealand—the latter had a test restore which went well.
