Ok guys, got a proper challenge on my hands here.
My dad bought himself a Rolex datejust approx 50 years ago in Hong Kong. A couple of years ago, he made the mistake of not pushing back the crown far enough before going for a swim somewhere in Croatia.
Goes without saying the watch didn’t really appreciate the combination and turned proper green as a result.
There’s no proof of purchase, no box or anything. He had it checked out by an official Rolex center back in the Netherlands and they confirmed both authenticity and quoted a price for a potential “repair” / overhaul that made him burst into tears.
Looking for some advice here and if possible a solution. Bracelet is not original but that less of a concern, main thing is to understand if and at what potential cost I could have this watch up and running again.
As you can imagine, being in his possession for so long, it holds a certain emotional value.
Open to possible UK, Dutch or Italian repair options. I live in Italy but I’m traveling to the UK quite often for work.
Cheers for any possible input / advice.
PS: will get some better images by tomorrow (pending dad’s iPhone skills)

I like the murdered out look as well but I think it'll look quite nice with stainless steel fenders, front rack, stainless steel bottle cage holder and the organic color scheme of the Brooks cambium parts. All the rest remains black.
Or I stick with the black Fizik Antares and black grips and go for the tanwall version of the WTB Horizon when the black ones wear out.

I've been looking for a bike to commute to work for a while now but nothing really ticked all the boxes I wanted.
I'm facing a 14km single trip which takes approx 45 min by car due to traffic. First ride by bike last Friday took me about 10min less which is a good start!
As I prefer to avoid having to shower at work, main goal in summer is to arrive without breaking a sweat which is easier said than done in Italy. The single speed setup of this bike probably helps me stay at a steady pace actually.
For now I'll probably keep the bike as is but for those autumn / winter months I'll be looking for some nice hammered fenders probably. I've always been a sucker for the Brooks cambium mix of saddle and grips so that's on the list to replace as well. Once I found a nice combination of stainless steel racks I'll opt for the King cage water bottle holder as well as I'm a big fan of those.
Any suggestions on the following parts are more than welcome:
_ subtle front & rear stainless steel rack (ideally with light mounting options and some practicality to it as I need to bring my office clothes with me in some sort of bag)
_ the above mentioned some sort of bag (ideally mounted to the front rack)
_fenders (need to fit 47c in 650b)
_dynamohub / wheel combination front wheel
_dynamohub compatible front & rear light (thinking Supernova at the moment)Photo time!
