Thats a really nice one. One of those would be high on my list as well. There is a youtube vid of someone with a really nice one making his new house around one of those (silver n black i think) as it drives into the living room. Edit: found it : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt7uQr0YiUs i likely saw it on here before.
Yeah the f40 is the best i guess but its not the best looking imo. Its also a bit to racy and over the top for me to picture having one to actually drive around in (unlike the dino thats such a modest looking car ha)
Its not easy finding a car that u adore but also dont feel like a jerk for riding around in, not for me at least, even if one could afford the objects. Thats a niche where my ghibli excells, most wont look twice but i got like 5 thumbs up when i took it out yday for a spinn at various redlights ;) seems only car ppl appreciate it which i kinda like.

"Active sonar sends out acoustic sounds, or “pings,” which can reach thousands of yards. If the ping bounces back, that means it hit an object—like a whale, a ship, or another submarine. But stealth subs often avoid active sonar, since the ping could give away their location"
Had to read a little and found an interesting article about a swedish sub that trained with the us fleet for a long time. This was 2005 so long time ago but at this time the conclusion was that the us was not trained in locating and detecting these smaller subs like the Gotland class as the cold war had made the threat about large nuclear subs . The interviewed person in the article concludes that they told the americans that they would have been able to sink ships before they were detected but they us were getting better and better as training and time passed.

Yeah i get that its not just the carrier on its own its just that its such a massive warmachine with an infinte cost and easy to track compared to subs. I obv have no idea about these things just strikes me that it would be worth it to launch an attack even knowing you may loose a sub or 2.
Its like sinking a city. Saw a sum of close to 17 billion USD for the cost of one and im not even sure that includes the planes and weapons it carries.
Perhaps moving it in a convey is enough to keep it safe it just seems like the nature of oceans and the sneakiness of modern subs would make it vunerable.
-
Ive often wondered how hard it would be for a super power to sink an aircraft carrier.
Just from a regular joes perspective it would seem impossible for carriers to defend properly against a pack of subs (much like ww2 i guess). How would that work today, im thinking its illogical for US and others to have such massive carriers if they were sitting ducks to subs but perhaps they are and they still employ them as thats the only way to move your striking force around the world in a reasonable fast manner?

Sure its the most emmediate effect anyways i would think to.
I think the list is long and will continue to grow as time goes on. For the west russia is now dead as a trading partner.
Nick above has a good point as well. All the young talent that wont want to stay. Sure they can likely be forced to do so but that has it costs as well.
I think the undoing of the quite friendly view of russia and russians is a big deal long term as well. 30 years of progress just wiped out in 2 weeks. Which politician will even think about doing anything remotely pro russia when the western population hates it guts. It will have effects for a long long time. Europe making plans to be independant of russias natural recources etc etc.
What is the cost of occupying a nation for years as thats what it will take even if he wins the "war". How many russian soldiers will die, how many russian mothers will wont it to stop?
All the major companies withdrawing their factories shops and products etc.
Give the current situation a few years (god forbide) and putin himself may not be adversly affected but his population will suffer and so will his popularity.
Nato? Wont surprise me if Finland and Sweden both are nato members by the end of 2022. Germany upping their defense budget to 100 billion euro. Sweden will now also aim for 2% of gnp. Many nations are awakening to a realisation that perhaps we have been naive.
He has also managed to unify europe in a way we havent seen in a long time. With uk leaving eu and things were looking brittle its now more united than ever. It helps to have a common enemy. Sometimes i wonder if it will take allien war to unite mankind as a whole..

I dont think Putin sees this as a win tbh.
You have pointed out some facts (or believes) that could potentially be a possitive for him. But you have not provided a similar list of the facts (or believes) that could be a negative for him.I think the negatives far outweight the possitives thus far tbh.

No its not an easy question. But lets say putin said he wants the uk or hed start firing nukes? Would u then happily vote for the population to move elsewhere? There is a line somewhere, its just not very clear where it is. For Ukraine and some other ppl that line has allrdy been crossed and i guess i dont think that is particularly strange tbh.

We all have an idea but that does not change that its a good thing if theres a large chunk of money going to the victims of the invasion of ukraine.
Chelsea valued at 2.5 billion or similar and has a debt to himself at around 1.5. The club could ofc have a lot more debts elsewhere etc but i think he is smarter than saying he will give all the profits to the victims if its gonna amount to next to nothing knowing how that will make him look.
But we will see.

Looks funny instead of fun? :) realisticly how many will buy such an oddity, 3 wheels? I love morgons so its not that. Growing up my dad used to borrow a +8 for big events like graduation or similar. I Cant see there beeing a big demand for those tbh. Hopefully im wrong. The "regular" morgans tho.. nice looking cars.

Finland and sweden are closely connected in this regard. They would likely agree both joins or none of them. So far in sweden there is not a majority amongst the parties to join nato but its getting closer n closer here as well.
I think however their reasoning is that now is not a good time and could likely just bring more fuel to the fire.
-
Likely he does not want to use them and prefer if the west just cave in and thus threatens to use them. That does not equal he would not under circumstances where he felt cornered. Just the fact that he is willing to escalate the dialogue to involve nuclear weapons is idd terrifying.
Imo tho that kind of talk will eventually lead to the negotiating table most likely and the west granting him a way out without looking like he retreated with the tale between his legs. Lets hope so at least.

Nothing is for certain i guess but id wager a lot that the reason the tanks have not advanced as far as the west thought they would has little to do with fuel supply at this point in time.
Its not like they thought there would be an abundance of fuel once they got into ukraine either and are / were likely planning to use them tanks for a while even after they had taken control of ukraine. I doubt they thought that just armed forces without vehicles would be sufficient to keep ukrainians in check once they are there.

I dont think anyone really believes thats what putin thinks but rather that this type of rethoric is what he thinks will work persuading the population that this war is a necessary act.
Chasing nazis sounds good to russians and well to most ppl in the world tbh.
Putin may be a lot of things but he is not dumb enough to surround himself with military personal that bring thousands of tanks but forgot to bring the fuel.
I dunno i think daytona is a pretty well known Ferrari. I much prefer the coupe. Was one for sale here some 20 years ago or so and my dad went to look at it but decided it was way to much money for such an old car. If i recall the price tag was around 25k gbp.
