disc brakes but quick release drop-outs and 135mm rear spacing, rack and mudguard mounts, maybe more traditional geometry rather than sloping top tube, 1 1/8 non-tapered steerer forks. It'll mainly be used for touring, but I'd like it to not be an absolute tank
Didn't tonnes of bikes used to fit this description? My Pass Hunter does. Now they'll all be Thru Axle, tapered, flat mount, etc etc. So second hand for sure.

Do you mean tender geraniums, which are properly called pelargoniums? They will I would have thought not be for sale until a bit later as they are killed by frosts.
Hardy geraniums can be found but again at this time of year will either be bare root or cut back with nothing showing above the soil, so garden centres unlikely to have them on display yet.
Can recommend planting bare roots - always had good results for me, and much cheaper

Because why wouldn't you use a thumbie or a trigger? On a drop bar, having the shifters on the bars either dictates the levers for you or you have bar-ends and jab yourself in the knee all the time. But on a flat bar you have better options. Especially when there's another thumbie already. Each to their own though

I don't think you can realistically grow a wildflower meadow in one single bed and make it look good.
Instead, you could plant ornamental grasses and, if it gets enough sun, mix them in with verbena bonariensis, prairie perennials like your echinacea, and annuals like poppies, cornflowers or cosmos. That way you might achieve a sort-of-naturalistic look.

Or if you really want hand made from junk - 3 sticks and a plastic bag can do the pot bit

Agreed, excellent posting. What is going on with the hog's back? Appears to have a dedicated tea towel and beer can holder on the top tube...
Capacity for about 15 litres of liquids but only a basket for solids - use case: short day rides into the heart of the desert?
