Good notion Beagle, will do. Picked up a Surly 20t rear from BC… should be about 41". Zoom!

The rear dropouts on my Kona are wack… way out of parallel. Chain tensioning is tricky, and it's likely doing my hub no good. Puny attempts at cold-setting proved fruitless. What's a poor boy to do?

How about black epoxy powdercoat? This link says it comes out better than regular powdercoat on everything but weatherability... a mate had a frame done this way years ago... way tuff.

Awaiting the next great instalment! I lived for six months on a tiny cabin cruiser in Bristol docks, right through the winter. I still have a mortal fear of Calor gas leaks, and my worst moment was when the exhaust outlet failed and let water come pissing into the bilges... I spent the entire night bailing non-stop.

Fine times, though, and I'd live on a boat again for sure.

Hmm. I think Tuff Guys would drop the whole front about an inch thanks to the much lower crown, and tuck the wheel back nearly an inch as well... so possibly worth it. Also, I might be able to slam the back wheel a bit.
