My strictly imaginary watch journey led me from the terribly shiny GS to the JDM AB9000-61e or similar... claimed twice as accurate, jumping hour, bit more subtle, and even more baffling to the majority of watch fanciers (win). Never seen one, mind.

Core of my weeny board is still the same... Tremulator, Timmy, Montavillian, Topanga. Recently dusted off my Mojo Hand Mule which is basically a Red Llama, had it up for sale for ages but have totally changed my mind, it's brilliant for od-meets-fuzz, rather Mike Campbell in a way. Nabbed another Mojo Hand on the bay, a Bayou brownface style trem, but instaflipped it as it didn't go nearly slow enough. Also dragged out my PTD Mini Bone GeSi yesterday which is much fuzzy fun if, frankly, jazz rock. So basically sorted... tho teetering on a minor obsession with delays, the Boss waza is on the list...
Oh yes and mandolins... oval hole > f hole, yes indeed all day long. Those Eastmans do look nice. I haven't played my mando in so many years. Ach the guilt.

I once made a guitar body from Bermudan teak salvaged from a freighter that had been torpedoed in the Irish Sea in WW1. It was lovely looking wood but it was infused with salt. After about 10 years every screw in the body went green and the bridge wouldn't come off...
The plan was to blend a Tele with an LP Jr, with a set maple neck. It's a funny shape but it was about 1987 and I think I'd seen a St Blues guitar in a magazine and thought it was cool.

Blimey. A friend of mine invented a form of that back in the mid 80s - a hexaphonic pickup plus a six-channel rack unit that could be configured to use different amps/fx for each individual string. He couldn't get any manufacturer interested. Some guitar player got in touch wanting a freebie; friend turned him down. Said player was Edge recording Joshua Tree. Twat. /csb

I am no guide in the Gretschy netherwurld. Nevertheless re. Duffy, the silver binding is regrettable IMO and the WF is the only* guit on which gold hardware is a must. Plus you can pin the bridge on any Gretsch and drop in some TV Jones or similar pickups to taste. Pfff to de-authentification. Secondhand is a marvellous idea.
- Ok, also Penguin, Mary Kay, LP Custom, so not only, really, at all

The joy of semi-acoustics. My 330 has always refused to settle down with 10's mostly because of bridge break-angle but it loves 11's, which luckily suits me okay. Recently tho it's acquired a delightful phantom ringing noise on the G string which has eluded me despite poking, prodding and holding every single freaking component. I strongly suspect the tailpiece (an original, it took me ages to get round to finding one) but I cannot suss exactly where the noise is coming from. But fuck it the thing is 60 years old so it's probably allowed a complaining squeak or two.

There are a few PF20/PF50 humbusting threads on talkbass - they claim to have nailed it for cheapz. Great amps... would love one but sadly public transport weight for me is a must.
@clockwork_killa Would love to be able to suggest something but diagnosing set up troubles remotely is fairly impossibru. Have you had any improvement?

I have a feeling something like the EMG GZR P/J set might suit that Yamaha rather nicely? Supposed to be quite a vintage rock sound as EMG goes, and comes with pots and all. Plenty of reviews out there. Mind you it's 1 vol 1 tone so that might be an issue. Oh and my vote is for leaving the finish well alone...

It is a tough listen. I find Pink Moon specially so...
It took me bloody days to get the picking pattern for River Man down for a sort-of Five Leaves Left tribute show last year and in the end we dropped it as the singer couldn't cope with the timing and I blame her not one jot. Ended up doing Way To Blue and Time Has Told Me (latter at 11.00 below, with no me in shot, hurrah).

Ooh ta, it's a Gibson A-1 from 1915. I got it from a vintage show in Dallas on my first trip to the US in 1991.
rodan - looks amazing, bravo.
