I've got some chrome ones of these: http://bit.ly/O16YlD - would they suit?
-
I'm building up an old frame of mine for a friend - It's a late 60s Raleigh Mercury (metallic brown/rust).
I'm after some parts:
Crankset, 42T, 170mm (or shorter)
I've been looking at this set: http://bit.ly/OIPgiC - anyone got anything similar/cheaper?Long-drop brake calipers
Pretty sure I need veeery long-drop - at least 65mm. Nutted, prefer older style, something like Weinmann. Would be up for some nice retro levers if they're part of the deal but might not need them (not settled on type of bars yet but thinking 'staches)Saddle
Guess an old Brooks would suit. Not looking to spend loads, something a bit tired might look nice.Hit me!

Hey,
I'm fairly noob to it all too - esp. when it comes to wheel sizes; here's my story...
I made my first fixie about a year ago from an old Raleigh frameset I'd been knocked off a few years before. I got 700s for it and a 175 crankset.
I was happily riding around, loving the inertia in straight lines, then pedal strike! With my long cranks and too-small wheels, I took a corner at some speed and nearly broke both thumbs and my shoulder. Took months to heal.
Once I found out the wheels were too small (and the cranks too long) I switched to 27 in. wheels and the scare-factor went away.
Not sure if this applies to your build, but thought it was worth a mention.

Hey all,
So, I bought this ALAN off Orko42 a little while ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dk2000yeah/7921074910/
I've since replaced the bullhorns with the original drops: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dk2000yeah/7921074422/
So, I'm now selling the bullhorn horn bars with stem, levers snazzy zebra tape and cables: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dk2000yeah/7921073768/
I'm not sure what you call the set-up (I think I picked up on the interruptor term from here), but it's ingenious. You can brake from the end of the horns or from the centre of the bars. I really enjoyed the set-up but couldn't resist putting the drops back on.
I'm not sure what make the bars are. The stem is 3ttt (it's a very short one), the levers are XLC (I've done some googling but couldn't find much on them).

But for a couple of teeny-tiny marks these are as new. Had them on my daily commuter for a while. Loved the look but the position was a bit full-on for the stop-start cycle into town. These are the 40cm long ones.
£35
Pick up from Hackney Wick or Clerkenwell.

Hey all,
Apologies if this has been covered before - please point me in the right direction of so...
I'm after a decent resource for "bits". "Bits" being things like concave washers for brakes, crank bolts, the little caps that go over cable housing etc...
I've searched eBay etc and it seems the states is good but the postage is massive (e.g. http://bit.ly/UriQKV) <--- it's some of these I'm afte right now.
When I lived in London it was easy to get stuff as there are handy shops/cafes everywhere. Living in Brighton & Hove the shops just aren't here (tried x3 places on my lunch just now and no joy).
Anyone found anywhere online you can make orders for stuff like this?
Muchos thanks!
