And one hurrumphing email later, and I'm properly put in my place:
Dear Garnett,
The re:route application will be available on Android soon.
The re:route application has received no funding from TfL or any other partners. The re:route application belongs and is owned by RecycleBank. Instead we are working in partnership with re:route to help meet one of our objectives to encourage walking and cycling during the Games.
Kind regards

Interesting sparring on the Today programme this morning between Frank Warren and James Naughtie.
Warren was on the ropes, giving a masterclass in evasion and defense. "I know I said I'd have nothing to do with a fight between the two, but I'm not promoting it".
Naughties cut through sharply, "But you're a major shareholder in the company that is promoting the fight."
Warren, horibly exposed, parried weakly, "That's right, but I'm not promoting it".
Naughtie hit him up again, "But you stand to make a lot of money".
Warren, clearly hurting, "Not necessarily"
Naughtie on the counter with a sharp jab. Warren tried ambitious manouevres far beyond his skill level, "Please, you've asked a question, and I'm answering it".
Warren then floundered for a moment, before Naughtie bafflingly let him off the ropes.
Horrendous mismatch. Warren's trainers should never have let him in the ring. He is so bent he could barely stand, and from round one his vision was badly affected by those dollar signs he seemed unable to shake.

Edzackerly.
Care to have a guess at what percentage of tickets our wonderful private sector sponsors have been allocated?
So a quick google suggests the only figure available is a flat 8% without further details and with quite a few comments about a lack of transparency.Given LOCOG's trak record, where they are schtum there's usually something to hide, so it's safe to assume this 8% will comprise large sways of tickets in the best seats at the finals of each discipline.
2% investment cost vs 8% ticket allocation represents a nice return on the investment (notwithstanding the fact the 8% will be the best tickets available and therefore exponentially higher value). Add to that your own "brand stasi" supplied by LOCOG to enforce sponsor brand exclusivity and you've got the sweetest deal.
Had we known we should have formed a conglomerate and "bought" tickets through a sponsorship deal. Much better value.
Treating sponsors so preferencially to ordinary punters - good to see the spirit of the Olympics burning strong.

FFS - £9.3 billion and the best news I've seen is "Be thankful it's not £24 billion".
4 times over budget, a wanktastic ticket allocation to ensure nobody can see just how many tickets went to bankers, chums etc, patronising ads on the tube to say "feck off and walk to work if you didn't get a ticket to our summer banker jolly".
The best example and demonstration of just what a load of propoganda and bullshit this is are the special laws being brought in to stop anyone standing up and saying what a bad idea this is.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a global sports event, where physical excellence is exulted and used to motivate and inspire generations into sporting endeavour.
It's just nothing like that exists.
Instead we have the tacky money-making twatathon where sporting endeavour is used as a vehicle for a bunch of PR twats, logo designers, parasitic banks and politico chums to variously put a load of tax coffer money in their pockets for doing a substandard job, whitewash their harm to society, and have a good time at our expense.
And we've all got to behave like the Emperor's new clothes are really splendid.

They're pretty meaningless numbers, to be honest.
Define "rich" for a start.
"The Treasury says almost one in 10 people earning more than £10 million a year pay less than 20% in income tax."
I suppose the article is actually surprisingly positive:-
"Overall, more than 73% of those earning more than £250,000 paid tax at a rate above 40%, including 81% of those earning £5-10 million and 72% of those earning £10 million-plus." -
One in 10 rich 'pay under 20% basic tax rate'
Fcuking parasitic cnuts.

Surely the request for a "measured" response from someone recruiting for a position that requires skill in writing is a massive red flag.
What other kind of response are you going to give? To a prospective employer? FFS.
Sounds at best verbose (not a great quality given the role they're in charge of filling), and at worst bombastic.

I asked previously about the wider A23 wheels and I'm thinking about getting a set from Just Riding Along for £250:-
hubs: Miche Primato 32h road hubs, black
rims: Velocity A23, black with (MSW) machined side walls**
spokes:** DT Swiss Competition black
nipples: DT Swiss brass silver
**weight: **front 844g, rear 978g (1822g/pair)I want them for commuting (my short light commute) and longish (100mi) weekend rides. I'm 15 st. I've been on the stock bontrager racelite whels that came with my bike since I bought it 6 years ago and they've been fine - no problems. I'm interested to see if new wheels will make much difference.
I've also seen on here that Life Cycles can do a wheelset for £260:-
Mavic Open Pro Road Rims
Hope Pro3 Hubs
DT Swiss Competition SilverI'm aware Mavic and Hope are held in high regard. Would a fat b'stard be best off sticking to the A23s? Are there better options out there for the price?

I use spds. As Tallsam's said, they're generally considered mtb pedals rather than road, but are popular for road use as well. They're easier to get in and out of. When buying shoes I'd recommend getting as stiff a sole as you can afford, and making sure they're big enough as too-tight shoes make my feet cold very quickly.
Need help - saving for my first DSLR. I'm familiar with the basics of photography having owned a basic Canon SLR 15 years ago.
I could just about stretch to the Nikon D7000 with a 18-55 lens and/or a 35mm lens, or I could go for the D5100 and have more money for say a 18-200mm or a more exotic lens.
I know people say spend more on lenses than on the body, but simialrly most comparisons say most people outgrow the D5100 fairly quickly. (Also, it feels pretty insubstantial in the hand).
Does anyone own either camera and is prepared to offer their thoughts?
I've had a look at the Canon 600d which seems slightly less camera than the D5100.
One opiton I've recently added is the Pentax K-5 which sems like a viable contender despite not being a Canon or a Nikon.
As you may be able to tell, I am flailing. Help!
