Looking at some stats from earlier in the year, found a similar ride to what I did today.
23/04/15
Watts: 189
Avg HR: 16305/09/15
Watts: 192
Avg HR: 164now I know comparing avg hr doenst tell the whole story however - would you not expect to see slightly better results over an entire summer? I.e I should have been able to produce 192W today for less effort/ hr. I was also slightly less fatigued today vs the ride in Apr.
Although I havnt tested my FTP in a couple of months last time I did it seems to be only a few watts greater than what it was in May.
Before Apr I was doing around 200 miles/month. Apr was the first month I did 500 and since I have done 500 to 550 every month since.
Any ideas what I am doing hopelessly wrong?

reading the first several pages of this thread and thought it was relevant given that my small town has just put inplace a 2 mile cycle lane from the edge of town to the train station.
I am against it - I have never felt unsafe on that road, ever. The road has now been converted into one-way traffic with the other half a 2 way cycle line (I think, its still a WIP)
Anyway as feared the first thing I over hear in the pub is "yeah theyre making that road one-way for those bloody cyclists!"
Segregated cycle line to encourage people who cant cycle to cycle. But all it will do is cause friction between cyclists and drivers rather than educating drivers that cyclists also share the road. Drivers will now have to take a 2 min detour every morning to get to the station. Cyclists will no longer get over taken by 4-5 cars in the space of 2 miles during peak hour. Result.

Been researching this all eve and have to say while it would be nice to fit 35mm tyres, I doubt I ever will. This bike is basically just a road bike with the comfort of steel and space for 28mm + mudguards. Discs sound like more effort than I need. Reviews of TRP Spyre's are not 100% glowing, talk of judder have to maintain etc etc.. Bear in mind that I have not adjusted my rim brakes in 3000+ odd miles, i simply can not be arsed with any extra maintenance.
While searching for further inspiration I came across this, which I then realised was also psee's!

to me that is perfect, I don't need any bigger tyres than that and can ride 28mm with fenders.
Discs would also be another £200 odd quid.

well I mentioned my ftp remained the same - perhaps I should do another however as it is a couple of months out of date.
