I've got these with swiss stop carbon pads on a carbon rim. Yeah very good for me. Loads of stopping power. But I am a pip squeak of a man at 67kg and the bike is 6.

I had a loose grip once on a rainy MTB ride. It was hell. I had no one to call out so I had to live with it. I pushed on and completed the ride. Fuck it.

Tubular tyres, ITC. Tubular tyres! Different to clinchers. Anyone can change and inner tube/ fix a broken chain/ bodge a broken rear mech/ straighten a stem, etc.

Fair point about sitting on a train like a dick because you couldn't fix a problem though!

@dancing james. I'm very technical and take basic tools, etc. I guess I'm specifically thinking about rides in the country with tubular tyres. And that I would appreciate a back up plan for peace of mind. As for me, fuck carrying a spare tyre on the off chance of a flat.

I agree not worth it in London. I just reckon it would give me peace of mind cycling around the countryside on tubular tyres if I know I can't call the girlfriend to come get me.
