Is anyone interested in these earlier bits before I put them on eBay?
40h early Scheeren Record track rim, wood filled. Tubular, very light, never had a brake used on it. Got a couple of little cracks on some of the spoke holes but probably nothing to worry about because it loads the spokes from the other side. £10
36H Fiamme tubular rim. I think it's a second generation rim, so 1960s maybe late 50s. £10
32/40 Campagnolo/FB fixed/free hubs. First ever Campagnolo hubs made, identical to the earlier FB hubs but with Campagnolo logos. Chrome a bit tatty but useable hubs. No quick releases. £30
60s GB bars on 70mm SR stem. Black vinyl bar wrap in good condition apart from a little scuffing right at the ends. £15
Pick up from Egham/Staines or I can post at cost.

I know I'm probably doing something wrong here. I'm used to square tapers and this is new to me.
I've installed my bb cups. Got all three spacers on to take it from 68mm to 73mm. It's a cheapy Truvelo job. It came with a couple of plastic top hat bushes which have simply mangled up when trying to get them in. Bit crap, looks like I'll have to make some more. However, when the cranks are in, there's about 5mm gap and there's no way they'll tighten onto anything anyway. What's going on here? Race Face Deus cranks. Do they have their own proprietory bottom bracket or something?
Pics to help explain.

Did they ever put the Greyhound back up after that wanker developer 'accidentally' pulled it down?
I moved out of Sydenham about 12 years ago. Grew up there but moved away because it had been on the decline for many years. Gentrification of places like Brixton, Peckham etc were driving the scumbags out and into the suburbs like Sydenham and Penge and the places really suffered. Nice to hear it's on the up and it makes me feel a bit homesick reading about it. Miss the place quite a lot.
Tony Valenti's ice cream parlour, George Heatherington's pet shop with the st Bernard and the talking parrots, Twilights, Slatters for bread, 7-Eleven for Dunkin Donuts and late night porn mags, getting stitched up in the children's hospital. Coppers getting axed in their cars in the pub carpark. Ah.

I don't think I actually read the thread last time I posted here. I didn't see that J, S and B Parkes had posted here!
Not a lot of progress on my lightweight, considering it's been a year. I repainted the frame in black enamel (it was black underneath the blue) and built some wheels. I should get it down from the loft and finish those last bits...

I could have a closer look and see how many plies there are, look for voids, tab it up and measure the strength and stiffness. It would give you a pretty good idea what it would take to break the post. Could also probably make a guess what fibre and resin system the pre-preg was, based on that. Could put the clamp in compression until it fails.
Assuming I can be bothered though!

I work in composites R&D and testing. At the price, I'm quite tempted to section it up and test it! Looks pretty good to my eye though, it's a +/-45 UD layup inside, wrapped in 2x2 and all quite neatly. Like I said, I have absolutely no idea how they can make something like this for £10.50!
But yeah, looks weird. Need a round post!
