Cheers, don’t know if this is any different to the eBay ones but might go for it too as I’m needing a 165 on my Brompton due to my short as legs and rather get shorter cranks than spacers in the seatpost.

Probably the Brompton version of ‘carbon’ but that’s two material into one and the weight saving isn’t amazing. You’ll be better off with Brompfication ti seatpost which gets rid of the clip and a lighter saddle which will save you a loads more weight than any carbon seatpost.

Are you saying your friend wants to change the seatpost from the steel version to a carbon or titanium version?

The original Brompton titanium seatpost had issues and recalls before it was discontinued. 3rd party titanium seatpost are fine especially the ones on SJS.

I would avoid the carbon ones as they will wear and break eventually due to the fact they’re not designed for sliding up and down on a daily bases.

Yeah, unfortunately the 695 seems to be superseded by 785 for their climbing bike with a more relax geometry.

Function over form (never thought I would be saying that…)

From the photo it looks like the steerer has failed, I’m more surprised with how slim the profile of the steerer is. Probably over torqued or just basically failed.

Yeah I saw this just now, looks like I’ll be going with the new one…
